I want to put a fence around the back yard and it's a job I can probably do, I've put up small sections of fence/post/gate before and think I can handle it. My question is about the gas and water lines. I called the number to have PA1Call come out and mark the lines like I am supposed to do but all they did was come out and:
Spray paint the water shut off valve blue and draw an arrow pointing toward the street.
Spray paint the gas shut off valve yellow and draw an arrow pointing toward my house.
Question, what fucking good did that do? I know where the shut off valves are, what I need to know is where the lines are that go from those valves to the house. I know, 100% they do not run in a straight line from where they marked to the house so how do I dig and not bust a gas/water line?
Otherwise, it's a 3.5 foot high fence so 6 foot high posts will do it (right?) so I'm digging post holes 24 inches deep, are the gas/water lines buried deeper than that so it really isn't a concern?
