my encounters usually involve me on the right side of the law and watching something not so kosher take place. I am SURE there are good cops. the numerous bad ones are casting a dark cloud over the ones who are. but those have so much power or think they do it ruins the good rep of the few good. you are correct about it not being a pissing contest but sometimes I think the policie feel it is. Lke the cop on he video saying i am not your father! damn right your not and dont ever talk to me like you are. I am not some louse you are just gonna talk to any way you want to because you have a badge. not to mention cops do just as many underhanded things to entrap people as those breaking the law.

they have a tough job and have to be on the defensive, so as long as you abide by the laws they are trying to enforce, you should have NO problem at all.
if you're not doing anything wrong, you should never have a problem.

if i get pulled over, it's "yes sir" and "no sir" even to some 20-some year old. guess what? even if i was speeding, i get a warning. happens 2 or 3 times a year for the last umpteen years.

this is going to be my last response on the subject, but i just wanted to say I do respect the law. The law and those who are supposed to uphold it are two very different things. I guess I am just saying that I wish there was more "police" to watch the police. Also the police I am encountering are usually beat cops that most days consist of busting `15 year olds smoking pot in athens georgia, not detectives and undrcover cops busting bad guys. Just because I do not trust or like the poilice doesa not mean I am out breaking laws. I was told by my father a long time ago if the police ever start questioing giving you trouble dont answer anything other than your name. This froma military man who doesnt so much as have a speeding ticket. YOu dont have to like or trust the police to do the right thing. If your doing the right thing then 99% in life you are on the right side of the law. We need to make sure the poilce are doing the right thing too
