Wow gmroz22--we agree on something :)

Could be fault-- but very selfish with my time.

In office 7 days a week and when phones rings I answer myself--only time girls answer is if I'm not there--or outside firing one up--buts once I'm gone it can wait till next day unless emergency.

Cell phone stays in cradle in car--will take and put in room if out of town--but can't remember last time I had phone on me.

Wish it was like it was years ago when car phones 1st came out and cost about a $1 a minute air time--would stop all the frivilous chit chat.

Translation= I'm older than dirt and refuse any and all changes in my life, regardless if they are helpful or not.

Mags--

Being a frequent flyer, in my opinion, does not give someone the rights to invade everyone else's space (this includes noise levels). I have way more patience for a fussy baby than a loud cell phone talker. It is very similar to having that person in your car that answers a call and dominates the entire space of the car so noone else can communicate to each other. Then they take it a step further and ask you to be quieter because they can't hear. That's my main riff with the ear pieces. Not the person, but the rights they think that come with it.

And to act like you are more "progressive" because you are an early adopter of technology by using a blue tooth ear piece is a very "self-important" behavior.

I read a very good blog post the other day about early adopters. Being one myself outside of cell phones (see post above), I found it a very eye-opening take. I will try to find it and post a link.

To be honest, bluetooth earpieces have been around for quite a while, so I wouldn't consider myself an early adopter.

Also, not everyone talks loud on those earpieces. Yes, people do. But I've seen businessmen AND Nascar type people (easy to see with their Dewalt jackets with all the patches on) both talk loudly.

Please separate the behavior exhibited from the clothes/business people wear. That's the difference.

I thought MJ's wasn't a place that did that type of thing. People here have all type of occupations - from white to blue collar. I can see the blue collar type occupations dominate - which is fine. But I've seen people get banned from labeling other members by their color of skin, what they believe in before. I don't see this as much different.

Like in anything, know the person before making judgements.

FYI - a big airport pet peeve is being in a long security line, waiting for people who do not know the security procedures, even though they've been well publicized since 911.

"What, I have to take my shoes off?"

"What do you mean, my laptop has to be in a separate container?"

"Why do I have to take my jacket off?"

"Why can't I carry this bottle of booze through security?"

And my favorite:

"Why can't I take my gun through security?"

Those type of people who hold up the line for everyone due to being ignorant of what the rules are are the self-important ones. They think the rules, and knowing the rules, don't apply to them.

Funny how you are equating everyone who is against blue tooth earpieces are blue collar.

I FEEL VIOLATED AND PREJUDICICIZED!

A technology does not have to come out yesterday for it to be an early adoption. PDAs are not new, but if you use one as your primary connection, you are certainly an early adopter. Personally, I rank the Star Trek ear pieces as "new" technology.

A laptop is a piece of technology that would not be in the early adoption rank at this point. It has been shoved to the back of the line by tablet PCs and the aforementioned PDAs.

Please separate the behavior exhibited from the clothes/business people wear. That's the difference.

Not sure how this is relevant to my post. Being an owner of a software company, I don't think I look down on business people. Only people who think that their conversation is more important than everyone else's personal space.

Jack -- this is all your fault. you are not allowed to bring up any more pet peeves.

That's the thing. I never said business people in my post, either. Sure, a lot of them fit the mold, but my point was how the airport is a stomping ground for the self-important. Didn't ever say it had to be a business person. They certainly aren't the only ones yakking into those damned phones!

They are not the only ones with over-sized carry-ons.......They are not the only ones who jump up the second the plane stops, thinking this action will somehow magically transport them off of the plane! (And naturally....not all business people act that way!)

So, I guess that's where I fail to understand the whole, "walk a mile in my shoes" philosophy.

I don't need to get to know someone, to know when they are being a selfish prick. The two are quite separable.

No, Jack....I don't have one.

In fact, I just got a new phone, and told the guy I use it for phone calls. I don't care about texting, sports updates, stocks, tv, or a camera.

(He told me I was stuck with the camera, as they all have that now!)

No way you could text with those fat little fingers of yours anyway.:mj07:
