So. Cal
Is Vince Young starting for Michigan? If so maybe I will back them.

no kidding....

why are people shocked that the line will be osu -7?????

the debate has nothing to do with who will win or who will cover, the line will be at least 6-7 and move from there

Point taken, but UM's D makes Texas' look like a bunch of school girls.

How many returning on that defense this year?

Troy's stats at Mich...

27/37 300 yards passing 1 TD passing 1 TD rushing

Troy's stat against Mich in 04...

13/23 241 yards passing 2 TDs
145 yards rushing 1 TD

686 total yards and 5 TDs in only two games....

Troy Smith might not be Vince Young but the Mich defense sure makes him look comparable...

Hmm They are 1-2 v the run.

Other than ND it isnt like Michigan has played an offensive team. Ohio State will be the test. OSU scored 24 on Texas. I have little doubt they will score at least that against Michigan.

Are you sure about this given that they could only muster up 14 points against Penn States defense. :nono:

347 yds and 31 pts to Baylor? 519 passing yds and 31 to Tech?

ND was a serious test away from home and UM held Quinn and ND to 21, (7 of those came on a 2 yd drive) Not to mention the fact they forced 5 turnovers and scored two TDs in that game. Let's keep in mind this was the worst performance so far (points wise) for the D.

Texas' D's test came at home at they gave up 10 yds per pass play, 350 yds, 24 pts and forced zero turnovers.

OSU very well may change the outlook on UM's D in a couple weeks. But TO DATE, other than rush defense stats, there is no comparison between these two defenses. None.

Didnt Michigan fans say the same thing prior to the 2004 Rose Bowl?

I don't remember anyone mentioning UM's 2004 D in the same breath as this year's prior to the RB. They had just given up 30+ to OSU and 40+ to MSU in the previous month. Statistically and physically, they were no where close to the 2006 version.

I think Wisconsin has a pretty good offense, and Michigan all but shut them down:shrug:

Wisconsin Michigan
Score 13 27
First downs 14 16
3rd Down Efficiency 4-for-18 22% 2-for-13 15%
4th Down Efficiency 0-for-1 0% 0-for-1 0%
Total Yards 248 322

So Cal
considering that the most important player on the field in this game (troy smith) wasnt even the starting quarterback against texas last year, im not sure how thats a relevant game to reference.

All I'm saying is OSU is beatable @ home.
Texas did it .That was my reference. I know that T.Smith was not the QB in the game...

IMO Michigan can outright.

What on earth does Texas winning LAST YEAR on Columbus have to do with this year and different teams? Michigan couldnt beat OSU at home last year. Wouldnt that be more relevant (and yet of course equally non-dispositive?) Heck, Henne and HArt couldnt beat Texas at a neutral site two years ago, the last meaningful game Texas played before going to Ohio State. Maybe we should twist some meaning out of that too?

Ohio State is better than last year, Michigan isnt as good as Texas was last year. Not sure any objective mind could disagree with those statements.

That said, it is totally meaningless in the analysis. One can say they like Michigan in the game. I disagree but it is at least an arguable position. But it should be based on facts about these teams this year.

Henne and Hart were freshman 2 years ago! and who cares about years past....i know you were making that point to Tulah....

but to say Ohio St is better this year than last year, I would disagree, only their Offense is better which makes up 1/3 of a team.......Defense and kicking game is down from a year ago.....Michigan is solid on both sides and Garrett Rivas well he's garrett rivas and I slapped him in the head after the PSU game to voice my frustration with him over the years(i was boozing and i got on to the field, what do u want from me)

and GMAN....#80 Allan Branch and the D-line are the most important people on the field come Nov 18th, if you can't run and dont have time to throw, its downhill.......maybe if Ohio St had Vince Young I would back them, not the other way around......

So Cal
SunTzu ,

I'm not sure why your getting so offensive?

Texas was the last team to win @ the Horseshoe.
Prior to that it was Wisconsin in 04 & 01.

I'll say it again
OSU could lose @ the Horseshoe.
that is the only point I was trying to get accross.
Michigan is the toughest game they'll get @ the Horseshoe. LY Texas was the toughest game.

That's what I'm saying .

I never mentioned Henne or Hart
or Smith for that matter. The point was about the Horseshoe . Not the players.

BTW what side are you leaning to?
If I had to guess I'd say OSU.

OSU is capable of losing at home...which is very true along with MICH can win this game...but this defense has been together for a whole season now and its not like this is their first game...the OSU defense of line is a lot better than what people think and it will be important for OSU to stop the run...And considering Tressel is 4-1 against Carr and at home along with Troy Smith who seems not only to shine against MICH but in the spot light as well...I have to like OSU's chances of winning the football game...and historically the most important factor for the winner in this game has been the QB and I don't see that being any different this year...This MICH defense is flat out nasty and Troy and the O-line will need to be on the top of their game...

Dice,
And by the way...this year's team is for the most part is statistically better than last year on both sides of the ball...but I don't disagree with you...somethings just didn't bounce that teams way last year...

That may just be the worst Top 5 I have ever seen. BSU would get smoked by Texas, OSU & Michigan.

USC isnt a top 10 team in the country. :nono:

1. Florida

2. OSU

3. Texas

The rest really dont matter.
