And they are playing in Columbus.

Look at it this way - do you really think Michigan would be favored on a neutral field? Of course not....so right there the line has to minimum be 4 or more.

Do you think Michigan would be favored in Ann Arbor? I dont. Right there the logic takes you to 7.

Texas is gonna get stuck with Boise. Big 12 locked into the Fiesta, and Fiesta gets last choice of teams. If Boise is qualified, that is where they will end up.

As for SOS, I think it is generally bogus. Michigan, Texas, OSU, ND and so on have played one good team this year. The other games are all "wins" and they idea of saying beating Indiana somehow means more or less than beating Arizona or Kansas is just absurd to me. I remember reading once that generally speaking in Sagarin's hoop rankings a team playing teams ranked 98, 99, 101 and 102 is considered to have a tougher schedule than a team playing teams ranked 1,2, 198 and 200. That is just ridiculous.

At least the SEC teams can argue right now that they have played more than one QUALITY team.

But, generally, the computers are a joke. I saw there are not one, but two computers, that have Washington State ahead of texas and some other quality teams. Apparently losing to Auburn, Cal and USC means more than winning games to some of these computers.

Agreed...this system is so flawed its a joke...as pointed out above hopefully the BCS gets exposed once again and help ploy a playoff...

Boise St what a joke...I would love to see a Big 12 vs SEC match-up....

Agreed, thx...but I do think this will be a lot closer than 7...

You will get that in the Cotton Bowl....probably Arkansas v OU or AM.

I knew this was highly doubtful but I was thinking more of an TEX vs AUB/TENN/FL...

the sad thing is that type of match-ups would be possible in a playoff system...I hate the BCS...

good point on bring up last year's NC...yeah, your right...OSU backers would hammer the FG...but from a cap stand pt the +7 would look awful tempting...but I guess thats the whole point...

and Gman...the Brownies got away with one yesterday...but I'll take what we can get...

not to take the thread in an nfl direction, but youre right. the browns escaped. they were truly playing not to lose in the final few minutes of that game. havent read the papers but i would hope the win is being kept in proper context by the local media. jets might have been on the positive side of .500, but they still have a horrible defense that made it easy for anything the browns were calling offensively to have some success. droughns looked good, but thats because the jets run D is horrible. and frye wasnt a pinata, which is a good sign ... but then again, jets pass rush isnt impressive either. browns showed some signs of life, but their completely lame effort against denver off the bye was more disconcerting than a win over the jets was encouraging. the real browns probably lie somewhere in between. their offense should be better under davidson, but the real challenges will come against san diego and atlanta in the next two weeks. we'll see if it was a one week mirage. but i digress.

btw - i think osu either wins by 10+ .... or loses outright. really dont think any spread will come into play. but its still a few weeks away.

hope your right about the +10...I was glad to see us run Ruben too...but the injury bug has this team this year...

like you said OSU/MICH is weeks away...

I am hoping for USC to win the Pac 10 Conference. I will be jumping for joy if USC can accomplish that in a rebuilding year. Although I am sad USC is now on the outside looking in for the BCS NC. :( At USC, you still compete for National Championships in a rebuilding year!

What does your reply have to do with my post? Why would anyone give a damn what I am hoping for?

I posted this in the sport teams and fans thread...but I was sort of hoping for an old school match up of OSU vs USC...

Agree with Gman. OSu -7. And I think they will cover. Michigan just hasnt impressed me when I have watched them this year. Great job being unbeaten, but imo totally outclassed by OSU.

they should of beaten them last year(with a younger squad)......everybody talks about Ohio St.'s speed, I think you'll be surprised come Nov 18th the speed of Michigan......been running a fairly vanilla offense, only time they really opened it up was agaisnt ND..........but enough about that

bottom line is, if theres an unbeaten team from the Big East, they should play for the National Title......what is the sense of having them as a BCS conference if they dont get the same treatment as the other 5?......this is what they wanted, this is what they get.

The way everyone is automatically counting Ohio St into the National Championship game is quite entertaining. It's not just here, its television and just about everywhere else people talk football. I'm starting to salivate to take Michigan in that game, whatever the line is.

Kind of reminds of the lock that was USC last year in the national championship. I'm pretty sure we all remember how that one ended up.

well then make a counterargument.
what have you seen from ohio state that leads you to believe they WONT be in the national championship game? ohio state isn't flawless. but its certainly going to take a near perfect effort to beat them in their own house.

I didn't say they weren't going to make it so I really don't feel like I need to provide a counterargument.

I said that everyone is automatically counting them in and if it stays this way (Michigan cruising under the radar) my money will most definitely be on Michigan.

But on second thought, if they keep destroying teams like Michigan St and Indiana, I may just jump on the bandwagon too.

cheers

Michigan has been playing shit teams and hasnt won a game by more than 14 since Notre Dame. They have a nice defense, when they arent playing a team like OSU. Their offense is a joke...unless they are just hiding the whole thing.

I generally will take a puppy blindly and I love to be contrarian. But I wont even consider backing Michigan in that game.

Heck, probably the biggest reason I dont want WVa in the title game is I wont even be able to back them and I know OSU is a beatable team.

I would argue that a 14 point victory over Wisconsin and a convincing night victory in Happy Valley are quality wins.

Michigan went on the road and played a better defensive football game against PSU than OSU did and OSU was at home. Granted the interception returns for OSU were highlighted but I don't think Henne makes those same mistakes.

I just don't feel theres any reason to rule out Michigan here.

Michigan hasn't beat a team by more than 14 since ND....how about Michigan has only played one game closer than 14 pts ALL YEAR, PSU on the road 17-3 under 4 mins to go, which was never in doubt......or lets say they haven't let up more than 14pts since ND......but you know their D is good

Manningham will be back, which is big...but mich's O starts with the run and finishes with the play action pass....what Ive seen from Ohio St this year, is you can run on them....this plays in the hands of mich which will set up the play action....

to say Mich wont be able to handle ohio st....i'm willing to venture out and say they wont score more than 24 pts, obviously thats not an earth shattering #, but Mich and 7 pts would look tasty, like a scantily clad model strung out on E

I am happy and surprised to say that I dont think that EVERYONE in Columbus is ready to pack up for another vacation in Arizona. Michigan has broken our hearts too many times.....but I know Tressel will have the boys ready.

I guess we'll have to wait till 2008-09 for a home and home series.

As for the game between osu and mich. whats the total gonna be cause i see a low scoring game. Hell with osu's offense getting all the attention, their defense is number one in the country in points allowed. Total of 38???? Maybe tOSU 20-13.

By the way pretty much forget about team speed, cause the turf in the shoe is CRAP. Just installed a couple weeks ago and its not taking, but rather coming up in chunks.
