Having Surgery in a.m

been suffering with sinus problems off an on for a couple of years.

had to go to ER a few weeks ago b/c of wheezing while sleeping and violent coughing attacks.


they sent me home with, nose spray, not even an antibiotic..


well, ENT did a CAT scan of my sinuses and even after 2 Z-Pack rounds, ALL of my sinuses, except for the two in back of head, were still filled with fluid, mucus, etc. :scared

CAT scan showed drainage canals in sinuses are WAY to narrow and sinuses can't drain properly...so was getting sinus infection one after another.

so, doc is going in to do 'balloon' sinoplasty and gonna have to break/scrape the ethimoid sinuses...

anyway, should be under the knife for about 3 hours...

benefit is I should not have anymore sinus pressure/build up and should help with sleeping/snoring..

anyone had anything like this done...
how much pain, and what is recovery time, was suppose to fly to Dallas on monday!!:shrug:

ENT said since 2 rounds of strong antibiotics didn't clear up and since CAT showed such 'narrow' drainage canals, then surgery is needed...

if he kept giving me anitibiotics, I would just become 'resistant'.

I've had similar surgery myself Lawrence. Best thing I ever did. Recovery takes a bit of time. Whatever you do, don't act like you're gonna hock a big ole loogy. It will be tempting because you feel all that crap in your sinus area. They inserted some thin piece of plastic I think in each nostril. Didn't know it until I went back for follow-up.

It's been a while but no regrets. I bet I haven't sneezed over 20 times in 20 years.

i've kinda got the same problem i think... for the past few months my nose gets plugged up.. usually just one nostril at a time though.. but sometimes both... hard to breathe.. i wheeze when i breathe... and i cant breathe when i try to eat some times when i get like that.

usually if i hit the nasal spray it can clear up for a while.. but that is getting old... and when i exercise it seems to clear up for awhile too.

i've always chalked it up to allergies to teh dog.. but now i am thinking it might not be the case...

did you just go to your regular doc and have them look at it?

I used to play(or try to play) for money earlier.


ROI is BS... unless you are playing 40+ hrs a week @ the same limits...

I have no self control and can't quit a losing session... so poker to make $ is stupid for me...


to tell the truth... I have made more money playing for fun than I have trying to make $... sounds stupid but its true


I hope the surgery goes good... My friend had something like that a couple yrs ago and he said it helped him tremendously
