Baltimore Cop vs. Skater

Maybe I'm just getting old but I think 14 y/o snot-nosed kids should just sit down and shut up when addressed by authority whether it's a parent, a teacher or a cop! This kid obviously doesn't know how (or refuses) to "play the game". The cop might be right.... if the kid mouths off to the wrong person, he just might find himself taking a dirtnap.

I didn't see where the officer was so out of line but, apparently his superiors did!

I kinda liked the "Where are you from kid, the County?":mj07:

I would have liked to have seen more of the kid in the video. Was he walking away, ignoring the cop? If so, he was asking for a bitchslap.

Come on, if you were in a similar position and some little punk kept calling you "Dude", I'd bet that you'd lose your cool as well! :nono:

I like the little E85 French car the city makes him drive because he's a metermaid:mj07: What a F#c*stick. When skating is illegal only outlaws will have skateboards?

I like the last part that got cut off.. "Is that video running? I better not be on youtube."

The cop was wrong in a lot of ways. I understand teenagers like to backtalk but I think he will get in trouble to be honest if the kid reports it.

He's already been suspended according to the Baltimore Sun article. Apparently a reporter saw it on YouTube and sent the link to the police department asking for a comment.

What I find interesting is that this happened last summer and I would assume that the kid's mother was contacted (at least that's how it looked) and probably saw the video but didn't file a complaint when it happened.

In that situation, if that was my son I would LOVE to meet that mother ****er one on one.

Grab my feckign son with no right like that, and it would be really fecking bad news for the entire department.

Feck that cop and anyone who supports that shit.

I'm not saying I support the behavior but what is the proper action for a police officer if a miscreant is defiant and doesn't do what he is told (i.e. sit down and shut up)?

It isn't against the law to call a cop Dude. They aren't gods. What do they expect kids are going to call them? And why does it matter?

I'm pretty pro cop, but they need to realize what is against the law and what isn't. If someone breaks a law, arrest them or write a ticket... but kids, or adults are under no obligation to "say the right thing to make the cop happy"... either write a ticket/arrest them, or calm the F down.

I don't see why they can't just pick one or the other?

little surprised with this. read the replies before watching the video and went in trying to give the cop the benefit of the doubt. just couldn't do it. keeping in mind that we're only talking about what happened on the video (have no way of knowing if anything happened before they started filming but don't think anything did) the cop was way out of line on so many levels. grabbing a 14 yr old kid and pulling him down and then pushing him back down when he tried to get up, yeah, you're a tough guy. telling the kid that he keeps "flapping his mouth" ( I think the kid said three words and they were all DUDE. he must have loved that bud light commercial) I say suspend the cop, make him take his anger management courses over for the third time. (the chip he had on his shoulder when this started was huge, it looked like a goiter)

other than that I agree with VaNurse...

I agree with this 100%. I am very pro-cop, but my feelings on that don't apply here. This is just some hothead dipshit with a badge abusing his position of authority.

I can only imagine the people who watch this video and sympathize with the cop saying, "These puck kids today...."

When, IN FACT, your generation was the exact same way. Do you remember your parents/grand-parents, etc viewing Elvis, black leather jackets, and DAs as somehow disrespectful and you being some kind of devil worshipper.

I know. I know. that wasn't YOU or YOUR parents. It's always someone else.

From what we see on that video, that kid was not disrespectful to that officer in the slightest bit. But, of course, there are people who will view him as a punk simply because he is a "skater". Bullshit!

i agree that this cop has serious problems and probably shouldn`t be wearing that badge....he obviously isn`t psychologically equipped to wield this kind of authority...and doesn`t seem worthy of the public`s trust...

all that said, there`s something seriously wrong with many parents in today`s society...

imo, parents are to soft....maybe because everything came so easy for my generation and the generation that followed, these kids have very little respect for the law...or adults in general...everything`s taken for granted...

parents are "friends" and "buddy`s" instead of authority figures and disciplinarians....

people are being reported to authorities for spanking an unruly child....

how many times has everyone been in an airport or a supermarket ans witnessed an incredibly unruly child with a parent that either ignores or condones the bad behavior?....

if a cop had spoken to me as a kid and i had responded by calling him "dude" in front of my father,i`d have gotten my ass kicked 6 ways from tuesday...

i believe that we`re raising a generation of potty mouthed, disrespectful little shitheels,in many instances...
