Jack, not sure how much of a "foodie" you are but my fave restaurant is called Brightsen's..It's uptown and a short walk from the streetcar - which is always a nice New Orleans-y thing to do. Totally casual, incredible food! Also for po-boys a new place that has opened up on magazine street is called Mahoney's. Their shrimp po-boy with freid green tomatoes and remoulade sauce is worth the trip. Quite possibly the best shrimp po-boy is had at Domilise's which is also uptowna nd a cab ride away..since you're downtown the nAcme is loads of fun, with TV's to watch games and the charbroiled oysters are a winnah as someone else in this thread eluded too! ALSO JOHNNY'S PO-BOYS IN THE FRENCH QUARTER makes a great po-boy..If you're looking for good food in the quarter try Bayonna...I know you'll have a blast..WHO DAT'S roll! It's karma time for the city of New Orleans to get what they deserve...something to give the people of that city a reason to feel good besides mardi gras and Jazz fest. New Orleans gonna win the Super Bowl! GEAUX SAINTS!:mj06:
