very interesting replies, thank you. all 3 that i saw tonight, the players that hit the cross-court winners were hitting from roughly halfway between the net and the baseline. i don't remember if they were forehands, backhands, or some of both. all 3 times, i thought the cross-court shot right over the center of the net looked like the easiest shot and, well, it was. it's interesting that coaches teach to cover the line. at least in that situation. if you take away the cross-court, not only are you forcing your opponent to hit over the highest part of the net, but they also need to be accurate because they don't want to hit the ball out. when they hit the cross-court shot, they have a MUCH larger target.

alright, that's it for me for the night. i can't watch any more of sramkova missing every first serve and ostepenko CRUSHING every second serve.

Larger target...yes

longer distance to hit that shot....also yes

and

if player at net hits the cross court reply.....he has a much easier volley to "put the ball away"

I bet if you asked the top coaches in the world, almost all of em would say "cover the line" (when approach shot is hit down the line). But as I said above, it is programmed in your head at a young age to "cover the line", it is second nature, it is almost impossible to get that out of your head.

As always, Smitty was profitable in the first round. I'm usually ok in the second round, too. After that... meh.

Majchrzak +2.5 games (vs Marozsan) 2.3 to win 2
Fery (vs Etcheverry) 4 to win 5
Opelka/ADF Over 42.5 games 2.1 to win 2
Nava/Norrie Over 39.5 4.8 to win 4
Parlay Fery win 2 sets/Cerundolo/Tien 3 to win 4

Only play on the ladies side tonight is very chalky.

Parlay Mboko (for kick!)/Jovic/Andreeva 6.1 to win 5

Jodar 1st set +1.5 5 to win 4
Parlay Baez/Machac 3 to win 4
Musetti/Sonego Over 39.5 4.6 to win 4
Parlay Machac/Gea 3 to win 4

Preston 1 to win 4
Parlay Tjen/Xinyu Wang 5 to win 6

Quick note for Stan Wawrinka... I believe he's a frequent Madjacks reader... Stan, bubby, you're 40 years old. You had a solid career. You're an underdog to Arthur Gea. Maybe it's time to call it quits.

Perfect day yesterday! In the bizarro world, anyway.

This is the 3rd time in 4 years that Tommy Paul has played ADF in the Australian Open. TP won the first 2. 6-2, 2-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in 2023 and 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 last year*. The other 2 times they played (both in 2023), TP won 6-3, 7-5 (Miami) and 6-1, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 (US Open). 6 of ADF's 13 matches in Melbourne have gone 5 sets.

*In all fairness, this was after ADF won back-to-back matches after being down 2 sets to 0.

TP to win first set 6-0, 6-1, or 6-2 2 to win 9.5. Stupid bet? Probably. But TP has won the first set each time they've played, and only lost more than 2 games once. So what the hell, I'll take a shot at +475. I mean, things can't go any worse for me than they did yesterday.

Zverev/Norrie first set Over 10.5 2 to win 3.6. These guys have played each other on outdoor hard courts 4 times. Zverev won the first set 7-6 three times and 7-5 once.

Parlay TP and de Minaur 5.6 to win 4

One parlay in Men's Doubles... Cash/Tracy and Ebden/Ram 2 to win 2.6

And let's take a shot in Mixed Doubles. This was so much easier at the US Open, when it was almost all Singles players. Anyway....

Siegemund/Roger-Vasselin 2 to win 3.4

A couple for tomorrow....

Mixed Doubles... Mladenovic/Guinard 4 to win 4.4
Ladies Doubles... Aoyama/Linette 2 to win 2.6

Ya want to know why you lost all the above?

You bashed Stan......yep if you didn't bash Stan you would have won....but yep, you decided to bash Stan and you got humbled. Remember Stan cheated on his wife with Donna Vekić. That ended up costing him millions of dollars in his divorce but Donna loves anal sex and blowjobs so it was well worth it. Yep, ya don't bash Stan, ya just don't.

Agreed. Karma got me.

Now let's hear more about Donna and anal and BJs.

I mean, she's attractive. But millions... yeah, not quite worth it.

There was like a nine hundred year age difference as well, but Stan knew Donna liked "to be adventurous in the bedroom" so he took the shot. Cost him a ton of cash, but hey its only money:cool:

I know one of Donna's former coaches, I'll give him a call and see if he can send over some Donna sex tapes, I'll post em in the "Mojo Forum", so keep an eye out. I mean she probably won't like that, but if MadJack sends her a Madjack T-shirt I think she'll be fine.
