Even if nobody reads this I feel like it might help me to just talk it out and update my progress. Its only the second day and I am already having some withdrawals.

Yes i am aware i am a shitty writer so please keep the smart ass comments to a minimum.

When i say Detox i am not talking about Drugs or Booze... but something that affects all of us.

FOOD

Its scarry to think about all the chemicals and toxins we ingest on a daily basis in this country. I dont sleep well, im tired during they day,I have sleep apnea and my bones and joints are starting to ache on a daily basis and i am only 30. Oh yeah and i am turning into a fat ass!! Last week I bit the bullet and decided to take hold of my life and do something about my ever expanding waste band. I purchased a detox program that i have heard great things about and it arrived on Monday.

Today is day 2 of my 21 day detox program.

For a mere $275 I have signed myself up for, what I assume will be, 21 days of hell.

The first 10 days of the program are strict. There are all kinds of shakes and supplements that I am to take 3 times a day, and this is no problem. However my food intake is strictly fruits and raw vegetables. For drink, you have two choices, Green Tea and water?

Let me say that again? Fruit and RAW VEGGIES.. that?s it..Not even things that are healthy like nuts, bananas, oats, beans, wheat and cheese. Not even orange juice or skim milk.

I used to think I loved salads. Turns out what I loved was all the croutons, meats, cheese, bacon bits and the ranch dressing I put on the salads.

The good thing is the shakes leave me full. I am not starving. But I am very unsatisfied. I am really craving bread. In fact, that?s pretty much all I think about. The say the cravings will go away after about 5 days.

So, will it be possible to correct 30 years of bad eating habits in 21 days??? I suppose time will tell..

I heard about this program on Sports Radio 1310 the Ticket in Dallas. They have a trainer on Saturday mornings who has a show. I emailed a few of the other DJs who have gone through the program and they all swear it works... I think the average weight loss is about 20lbs for men.

Here are some details about the program if anyone is interested..

Wish me luck lads

I will update soon

I would be leery of going on any detox program without seeing your family doctor first.

Especially if you havnt had a complete phsical in awhile.

There can be alot of things causing the symptoms you describe that has nothing to do with diet.

Would be hard to eat just fruit and raw veggies for almost a month.

I guess I could deal with the milkshake thing as long as I could get them from Smoothie King.

There are four local docs in the area that are involved in the program. I met with a Dr. Webster who gave me a toxicity test. He said a lot of my problems stim from poor diet, and lack of excercise.

He said the program itself is very safe and he even has a few obese kids on it. All we are doing is just what our ancestors did... eating food without any chemicals in it.

It is hard though I must admit.. But i can do anything for 3 weeks.........i hope:shrug:

thanks for the concern.. i will keep you posted

ps Smoothie King is out.. too much sugar and no organic fruits.. the shakes we have are special designed to clean out your liver, intestins, colan and kidneys, and the taste????? well its no phuking Smoothie King i can tell you that! Haha

wow, this should be fun to watch. I can't imagine the headaches I would have from not drinking some kind of stimulant. I workout daily and eat better than most(still not very good) but I love my caffiene.

Same here.. although not as much of a caffiene junkie as my wife..

Glad to hear you are eating well... but take a good look at some of your HEALTH FOOD... i was amazed when i saw the ingredients of my SO CALLED HEALTH BAR. Or all the chemicals and artifcial shit in my Lean Cuisine...

Even for people in good shape the program is beneficial.. A few of the Dallas Cowboys do it once a year as do some of the Stars. Good to clean out the O'L Pipes i suppose.

I would NEVER eat any frozen dinners. That box of crap probably thawed and refroze 10 times before you purchased it.

And some of the worst food you can eat is of the "lo-cal/low-fat" variety. Eat the right amount of real food made in a decent way.

Gibber, I hear you about food but when I'm eating healthy it's very healthy. Meaning chicken, tuna and only fresh veggies. Nothing processed and hardly any sugar. I'll look into what you're doing but I don't know if I could do it. Do you get any kind of protein intake?

GL Gibber & ill be keeping an eye on your progress... posting will only help u stay focused.

I gotta admit.. 21 days is rough for ur first detox.. I bought one of those 7-day liver/digestive/cleanse/detox packs from GNC and tried to follow the suggested diet.. however, i sank into a carb-withdrawal HELL about 3 1/2 days into it and ended up caving in to some pasta salad and grilled chicken pita. :142smilie Totally screwed it up.. :nono:

My girlfriend wasnt doing the detox and she got hungry and i couldnt just sit there and not eat, ya know?

I struggle w/ the same symptoms you describe so im interested in hearing your results.. Id like to give it another go one day under the supervision of a doc/nutritionist like u describe..

Looking forward to ur posts. -raw

hope it works....i try and eat right and exercise ,but these meal replacement/protein drinks are loaded with sugar and crap like chromium picolinate....

that f-cking chromium almost gave me a stroke a few years back...you get to much of that and your blood pressure will go throught the roof....

ditto phenylalinine...

this crap in excess will kill you...

the problem with the detox,if you get through it,will be the rebound effect that could ruin everything you`ve done...

i hope they provide some sort of "weening off" program so you don`t binge your way back into toxic-city....

don`t throw 21 days of hard work down a rathole..

best of luck...

Above the Clouds....
Good luck with the program.

I asked my Dr. a few months back and he just shrugged his shoulders and said " kind of like taking a good chit". That was the end of the conversation.

Again GL!

Its day three and i woke up with an awful headache.. They said days three and four most people experience flu like symptoms... I was hoping i would skip it.

On the plus side I slept better than i have in ages... So hard that i could not get out of bed this morning and now i am late..

I will update after work.

PS. Another plus. I have already lost 4 pounds:SIB

that stuff doesn`t agree with me,i.o(the chromium)....most of the literature indicates that it helps aid in fat loss by speeding up sugar metabolization.....i get f-cking dizzy and headaches from the stuff......affected my b.p. and pulse rate which is normally pretty low....

i felt like it did up my metabolism...unfortunately for me,that included my b.p. and pulse rate....maybe not everybody is affected like i am...

phenylalinine and ephedrine also don`t agree with me...

from what i`ve read, more people die from uncontrolled arythmia`s than from heart blockages.... i know arythmia and heart rate are 2 different issues, but i try and keep my heart rate in the high 50`s or 60`s....don`t like it in the 70`s...

so,anything over 1 cup of coffee a day for me is verbotten...

strangely enough, when i go out and have 3 or 4 beers, then come home and check my b.p.,it`s usually lower than normal...

i don`t know why...
