What the hell, count me in!

I suck at golf, so I look forward to pissing people off with my poor play.

Just had me a bowl of Skyline Chili :00hour

Jack, I have not touched a club since the first week of October, so I am about a 12-14 handicap:scared

And Eddie, our buddy Ronnie is another fine Nashvillian!

Seems like a sweet plan, and I do have flight voucher to burn. Problem is I'm going to a beer fest in Nashville the last weekend in July. My wife would likely have my arse in a sling were I to try to bust loose on consecutive weekenders leaving her alone with our 1 and 2 year old boys.

Hope you guys have great time:toast:

JINX.....A Hoppers game would be fine with me. Get my Email from Jack....we'll set it up sometime.

Eddie...maybe you need me in your foursome? I was all-conference all four years in golf....back in high school. Grant it...that was well over a decade ago. I don't have the best back in the world...but hop on....I'll tote ya around.

i think i'm going to nominate RollTide to be in charge of team selection this year but we'll worry about that sometime mid july.

there goes andy again with that 12/14 handicap BS :mj07:

i still think RollTide had the best team last year, they just blew their chances with the open bar. :SIB

glad you're coming, smurph.

For an HONEST (read: not dunclock's) of my own ability, here is my golf bio.

--play about 4-6 times per year with 1-2 of those being solo play
--if I had an established handicap, it would be somewhere around 20
--240-260 off the tee with an occassional 280-290 sprinkled in
--very short with my irons so i will normally be hitting 2 clubs longer than everyone else
--putting is above average
--drink lots of beer
--don't mind being the guinea pig and going first on every shot
--good cart driver

My guess from everyone's input is that I would be a C player in a foursome scramble. That's only if everyone is not dunclocking. If that is the case, I will be well in the D range.

Guess you me and Ronnie need to get out soon and attest to these handicaps:scared

Seriously, if I break 85, would be very surprised. Have not touched a club in over 6 months, been pretty sick for last two months and have lost 20 pounds.

But the chicks dig the long ball:SIB

Just kidding with you. I would like to agree to play, but I don't think it is in my short term cards at this point. If my schedule loosens up any, I will definitely be willing.

I don't know if this works for you, but I could be more readily available during the week than I am on weekends to play.

Decided to update this post with the newcomers and added information for my cheat sheet when I arrive at Belterra. Please feel free to correct.

I like doing demographics. Kinda like picking a jury. Brief bio from my past notes. I'm guessing at ages. Based on my history, thats probably not to far from the truth so here goes:

1. Dogs that Bark aka Wayne, white, male, (Bowling Green, Kentucky) (app. 55) former military, insurance agent, conservative, real conservative, leader, small business owner, possible chairman. long winded threads, impossible to read loaded with links to right wing sites. (B)
2. 65, white, male, (Bowling Green, Kentucky) medical field, conservative, born again, 2nd amendment dude (40's) correction (30's) has Ducks Unlimited bumper sticker on back of Ford pickup. definitely a former high school basketball player, maybe college (small) (B)
3. Handicapper, white male, (norther kentucky) bengals fan, physical disablity of some sort, stays away from political controversy, unlike 1 and 2 possible human being (50's) (M)
4. MadJack, white, male (Columbus, Indiana) ravens fan. soft touch misses father. big clunky kinda guy. enjoys others battles but doesn't like personal attacks. pretends to maintain friendship w/Kosar but in reality glad he lives in Fla. likes beer and betting. hates to work thats why he runs website. possible chairman but would keep verdict low (50's) (K)
5. ppabart, race unknown, male (Mebane, North Carolina) very non controversial individual. Bart and I have never, to my knowledge, gotten into it. My investigator reports he works for a law firm and has been around here since 2000 (longer than me) yet I can't remember any conflicts. Relatively few posts. Possibility??? Young too. Interesting. (31) (M)
6. Gmroz22, unknown, male (Columbus, Ohio) another young man (33). brilliant political poster. liberal. gets down and dirty with opponents. a fighter. also investigator finds that he lists golf as a hobby. if its a scramble get him in your foursome as he may be good. have to have him on my jury possible chairman (K)
7. Bohawk race unknown, male, another Buckeye (Lima, Ohio) and another old poster 1999. I don't recall any problems with bohawk. He's an ex guidance counselor so he must be a heavy drinker. doesn't seem to want to make waves. ex means retired guess (60's) (M)
8. Ronnie, white, male, weren't able to find out much about Ronnie. Update, from Nashville. Don't know where he's from. Is a yankee fan which is one strike. On the other side of the ledger he is a bar owner (no doube country) Likes to drink and bet. Has over 5000 posts and seems like nothing controversial - just handicapping. (39) (M).
9. Phenom, race unknown, male (South Carolina formerly of Louisville or upstate New York) fellow counselor at law. better yet graduated from my alma mater. just took bar in 2006 so just a neophyte. been at this forum since 2001. likes Keeneland, Vegas etc. sounds more high rollerish. been corrected is not high rollerish. probable (20's) (M)
10. Boilermaker, race unknown, male (Marion, Indiana) Purdue grad or at least big fan. grandfather, sales. one of the all time leading posters at mj's (over 12k) . non-controversial posts all about gambling. watches fox news. from indiana automatic red state probable conservative (52) (D).
11. Wineguy, white, male (Atlanta, Georgia). good avatar. relatively few posts for as long as he's been here 475 since 2000. medical sales so he's probably loaded. from photos of last year looks like a hot wife but must stop the pda's. southern medical sales familyt guy from Georgia. tell me this guy aint a conservative republican voter. (30's)
(B)
12. Fatdaddycool white, male, (Ft. Worth, Texas by way of Chicago). I've been waiting for this one. If this guy was on my jury and I saw him walk into the courtroom, I would ask the judge to throw him off before he had an opportunity to say one word because he would try to poison every other juror in that room against me. Fat and I joined MJ's at about the same time and have about the same # of posts. He's an airline mechanic and based upon where he lives, I'll bet he and my wife work for the same company. Other than that, the only other thing we currently have in common is that our feet our on the same planet. Maybe not, my son is a high school football player and he is a youth football coach in Texas. College, high school and youth football are huge in those two states. Fat and I have had many a run in in the past. Texas, loud mouthed Bush like republican. (40's) (B)
13. Rolltide, white, male (Greenfield, Indiana) probable Alabama graduate. But confusing with the Memphis avatar. Most likely will attack Kosar and any other Ohio State fans regarding dominance of SEC over Ohio State (which pales in comparison to Krispy Creames dominance over his will power). Seems like a fun guy who will party. from red state of Indiana - republican conservative, McCain supporter (35) (B).
(14) Kosar, white, male, passed out (Ft. Meyers, Florida formerly Cleveland, Ohio). centrist. excellent writer and sense of humor. very sarcastic. up there with yyz. one of the funniest here at MJ's. politically akin. respectful of oppenents when he should stick a pitchfork through their foreheads. likes to take jabs in a thread then pop out. Blew me off when I was in Ft. Meiers last year. obvious alcohol problem. chick magnet. (70's) (K)
(15) DawgBall, white, male, (Nashville, Tennessee). Obvious SEC fan, University of Georgia. We've had one or two spats nothing serious. probably laid back but would follow Wayne if chairman. conservative side. in the Wayne camp. (33) (B)
(16) bsucards, white male (Pendleton, Indiana) IT guy, had a lot of girfriend problems that I recall. wanted to have his friend shot or something like that for sleeping with some chick. could be a total loser. what do you expect from ball state. probably will cry if he misses a shot. maybe gay. avoid. consider betting again if opportunity rises to play against his foursome. (32) (K)
(17) dunclock, white male, (Nashville, Tennessee) sells books to retail stores (yawn) emailed me last year. wanted some kind of favor like free tickets to a reds or bengals game or a free dinner at Mongomery Inn. I knew he was just trying to leach off me. typical blowheart sales guy. figures out what you are all about then tells you what you want to hear. i hate him. however, he may be sandbagging on this "oh I haven't played in 6 months" shi t. like salesmen don't lie, right? especially sales managers. on a jury, would likely be a chairman as he could con the rest. problem is which way would he go. could i get him to like me and my client???? (late 40's) (M)
(18) smurphy white, male, large nose, irish-jewish, (southern California) one of the best writers and potential clearest thinkers at this forum. excellent wit. very intelligent. weakness - backbone, backbone, backbone. can take on the easy ones (no wits) hedgehog, tenzing, et al. tends to cave and compromise with the half-wits AR, Wayne Gary. I think a couple of days with Gmroz, Kosar (although I noticed he over the last several years has decreased the name calling and become much more civil) and myself will get him into Reverend Wright shape. I am very glad to see you coming Saul (30's) (K)

Well there is my analysis. If any alternates pop on I will try to do a quick study of them also.

Heres the breakdown by state:

Indiana: 4
Kentucky: 3
Ohio: 3
Tennessee: 3
Texas: 1
Florida: 1
Georgia: 1
North Carolina: 1
South Carolina: 1
California: 1
19

I've also added a demogrpahic by age:

20's: 1
30's 9
40's 4
50's 5

I really think we should all pitch into a pool and try to get Vyrus to come to this thing. I wish IO, Cie Grant, YYZ could attend. Boy do I have bio's for them.

Eddie

Sorry to disappoint, Eddie.

Not to sway off topic, but congrats on your son being elected team captain by his peers. That's a great compliment to the young man, which normally reflects well on his parents. :toast:

Blew me off when I was in Ft. Meiers last year.

Eddie,

Kudos on all the bios/write-ups. I laughed quite a bit, I will admit.

One small point here on the above. As you know, you never told me you were coming down here.

About 12 minutes after you got back home you posted that you were here. I asked why you didn't tell me beforehand. You said that you never knew I was from Fort Myers, even though 'Fort Myers' had been on top of all my posts for the 6 or 7 years we have been posting together here.

If you ever make it down this way again, i'd look forward to a drink or two.

I just wonder if an 'unexpected' court date might come up right around the time of the golf outing.

I hope not! You're definitely one of the people who I haven't met, who I am interested in meeting.

Then again, two others are Sponge and gardenweasel, so I wouldn't get too excited about the purported compliment.

Boy he REALLY knows me:mj07:

Only thing he got right was that I emailed him last year. Was to ask him about a couple of golf courses in the area. With the response he gave me, he definitely showed his lack of knowledge on the subject. Asked him if he wanted to play and of course he was unavailable, just like he will probably end up being for this event!
