if Bush had any integrity at all, he would fall on his sword. In another time the wh would be stormed like the Bastille, and his head put in the gullotine.

"the bunker"
and just how is abandoning iraq going to increase gas prices?...

how is abandoning iran going to help dissuade al qaeda and iraq from expanding their influence?...you say we shouldn`t be in iraq?....guess what,we`re there...you can`t unring that bell...

.you say focus on afghanistan?....

so why wouldn`t they set up camp in iraq,then?...and claim victory...

anybody familiar with the straits of hormuz?...when iran gets it`s nuclear weapon, who`s gonna stop them from strangling this critical chokepoint that moves 30% of the world`s oil?....

i mean,we`ll be gone...right?

what happens then?...we redeploy all the stuff that`s already there?..

that`ll be easy...:SIB

you wouldn`t mind AGAIN,abandoning our allies...those that have laid their lives on the line in hopes of a better future...to certain slaughter?

how does quitting and hanging our friends out to dry AGAIN,help america?...and just as petraeus is making progress..

all in the interest of political gain....

who would dare be our ally?...who could trust us?... what credibility would we have?

you guys may get your way...obama has already garnered those important endorsements from iran, hamas and the farc terrorists in columbia...

they`ll all be very happy when we`re defeated...

g.damn america!...lol

the forum is turning into a parody...threads that ponder whether a citizen should HAVE to identify themselves to vote while we`re in the midst of an illegal alien crisis(god forbid!)?......christian and religion bashing?....threads that perpetuate fraudulent videos about candidates?.....spongy using pink videos to support his nonsensical points of view...

:grins: :nooo: ..don`t know whether to laugh or cry..

Gee, I don't know Wayne...I don't think it's that surprising that the times when Dubbya comes around for his photo ops with the troops, that they do the normal thing, clap, salute, that kind of thing. It probably would not be a good thing if they didn't, would it?

Have you ever seen a presidential visit to troops where they didn't pretty much do that? I doubt that they can all adequately show anything but allegiance to their "commander in chief" and a good show for the cameras, right?

Seems that only when the troops, generals, etc., get out of that situation that they speak differently. Sure are a lot of generals over the past few years that are quite outspoken against the way this war has been fought, our reasoning, the President himself, and countless other things that don't show up when they are on camera with officers around.

I sure wouldn't expect them to act any differently, it's part of the job, essentially. To take credit for behavior that has gone on throughout history is a stretch, in my mind.

Short memory Chad--Billy Bob went to the wall on vets day to make speach--but when they showed him their back side he cut it short and left.

You can always tell genuine spirit of soilders and whether they just go through the motions--have never seen such a spontanious reaction of troops as I saw on aircraft carrier.

---and edward you have about as much credibilty as Sham does on his 5000 killed--

per your--
" I always thought the American way was about truth and justice. Not lies and cover up. Think about it. Bush the fraud in a flight suit. This guy could no more fly a jet than he can govern a country"

from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Bush_military_service_controversy

Timeline
Bush enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard on May 27, 1968, during the Vietnam War, with a commitment to serve until May 26, 1974. In his 1968 Statement of Intent (undated), he wrote, "I have applied for pilot training with the goal of making flying a lifetime pursuit and I believe I can best accomplish this to my own satisfaction by serving as a member of the Air National Guard as long as possible." He performed Guard duty as an F-102 pilot through April 1972, logging a total of 336 flight hours[1] and was promoted once during his service, to First Lieutenant.[2]

In November 1970, Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian, commander of the 111th Fighter Squadron (Texas Air National Guard), recommended that Bush be promoted to First Lieutenant, calling him "a dynamic outstanding young officer" who stood out as "a top notch fighter interceptor pilot." He said that "Lt. Bush's skills far exceed his contemporaries," and that "he is a natural leader whom his contemporaries look to for leadership. Lt. Bush is also a good follower with outstanding disciplinary traits and an impeccable military bearing."[3]

Bush's six-year obligation to serve required him to maintain his immediate readiness as an individual and a member of a unit to be called to active duty in the event of a national emergency. Bush's military records indicate that until May 1972 he fulfilled that obligation. But from that point on, Bush failed to meet the attendance requirements established by Federal law, Department of Defense regulations, and Air Force policies and procedures for "obligated" members of the Air National Guard, and the Air Force requirement for an annual physical examination for pilots.[4]

Not a short memory, I don't remember that at all Wayne - I'm sure you can link it for me? Remember others where he was roundly applauded, and warmly welcomed. Most PResidents are and were, as most would agree. And remember some Bush telecasts that didn't show much excitement. I'd imagine there are plenty of soldiers in Iraq that aren't too thrilled with Bush after being denied coming home and making 3-4-5- return visits when they weren't supposed to. But I guess those guys are just troublemakers, or problems.

Except for maybe the guy that lost a leg that Bush wanted to race on the lawn soon...

The Bush cheerleaders get more and more absurd by the day. If you are so stupid that you still support this guy than you are too dumb to be reasoned with.

Turning Their Backs On Clinton; President Encounters A Wall of Opposition
From: The Washington Post Date: June 1, 1993 Author: Linda Wheeler; Stephen Buckley More results for: Vets turn back on Clinton at the wall 1993 | Copyright information Copyright 1993 The Washington Post. They waited for hours, some of them, to make a simple but emphatic gesture. And when President Clinton was introduced at the Wall yesterday, they did it, in unison, on cue.

They turned their backs.

"He's not my commander in chief," said Tom Stephanos, a Manassas resident who was wounded five times during the Vietnam War and wore 15 medals on his denim shirt yesterday. "It's a slap in the face to all of us that he had the gumption to show up here today."

Emotions in Clinton's audience ran high; opinions spanned a wide spectrum. Many had come to Washington for the Memorial Day weekend to remember lives lost in the nation's wars and to register their anger at the president, who avoided combat

A piece of trivia--Who was only president in last 60 years not to serve in military?
--of course that string could stop in Nov :)

on more serious note--most vets ( not as evident with draftees) take pride in what they do/did.
When your making sacrifices even though you might not agree with situation your put in--you expect others to acknowledge/appreciate the efforts--The thing you detest is those that don't particpate yet condemn and try and belittle efforts-
While I can't speak for others I had twice the respect for the enemy as I did for those protestors when I returned--or code pinkies of today.

Wayne:

I kinda remember back in the 04 campaign where W was having a hard time showin where he was during his supposed service time in the Texas or Alabama air national guard. Tee hee, tee hee. One place we know he wasn't was VIET NAM.

I still keep on laughing at this clown in the flight suit like he is some combat pilot or something. What a f'ing joke. Must be halloween. George int the military. George the soldier. George the war hero. I'm sorry he doesn't fight wars, he just starts them. Maximus he is not. Bozo he is. A pathetic excuse for a human being let alone a leader of a nation. Laughing stock of the thinking world.

"Here, soldier let me hold my helmet at my side and strap on my flight suit showing my big package for this photo op with this dorky looking midshipman over my right shoulder and salute all the troops while I ducked out of real duty in the 60's.....". Give me a f'ing break.

20 percentile of the US approval rating. 0% of the thinking world approval rating.

it baffles me that Wayne thinks of GW as an American war hero and talks about the "left" as the code pinkies or whatever the fvck term he uses. And yet, he has voted for the biggest group of draft dodging, chicken hawk pussies to ever occupy the oval office. What do Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Dick Cheney, George Bush Jr., and every other neocon dipshit who is a disgrace to true conseratism have in common? They are all draft dogding pussies who have never been in combat. GW Jr. was a fvcking cheerleader for Christ's sake. The worst president in the history of the US. I hope we can recover from the damage he has done.

Well, that does clear up one thing, Wayne, and that is probably why I don't remember it. The link was to a group of Vets that wanted to make a statement against Clinton - and not a group of active soldiers. My point was specifically about active soldiers, and not an organized protest by a group wanting to make a statement.

And, I guess my point of no-longer-active Vets who are unhappy with Bush would definitely be in play now, right? Because I think we all agree there are plenty of those - if not, I think it's pretty disingenous.
