A $8150 TOOTH?

#4 tooth starting at the front and going right.

5 years ago had a root canal $900 and a crown $1500, then last November I had a problem with it and it cost me $750 to try to save it. Now I find out that the procedure that tried to save it didn't work. Total so far = $3150

Now what?

I can't do a bridge because it's next to a bridge tooth. I can but it wouldn't be logical.

I can get a flipper for $1200. UGH!

They recommend and I want an implant. The crown and flipper guy wants $2500. You see, I have to get it pulled and then wait for 60 days or so to make sure everything healed properly in order to do the implant. I can't walk around without that tooth so I need the fukin flipper. The implant guy wants $2500 for the implant work providing he doesn't have to do any bone grafting :scared total = $5000. Jesus Christ!

I can walk around without a tooth.

This isn't fair, is it?

Any suggestions? Are they ripping me off?

Jack I don't know how a flipper would be on top but I have one on bottom and don't even know its there except at night when I take it out.

I had a problem tooth like yours that caused me pain/probs for years. Best thing ever happened was to get it out.

I know a guy who makes porcelain crowns. I asked him how much they charge the dentists for those things, and he told me their company charges $280/crown. Sounds like a lot of profit there.

Not joking, do you need it, I mean could people really tell your missing a tooth and do you care, would it effect your chewing with out it, man that is a shit load of cash for the tooth, Glad i never had even a cavity, was told has to do with hardness of my teeth, my sister had about 7 and wisdom problems , me was very lucky but when i go in 1 time a year get bitched at about the snuff and my gum line.

Good luck just a lot of cash, also why does the guy who did stuff last time not cover some of the cost at least?

I blame the bad tooth on the root canal guy (a different guy than these 2). I bet he cracked the tooth when doing the root canal.

i think we may need to replace the dom lorenzo forum with a "geriatric forum"...


i just went through a similar ordeal...i`m beginning to realize that when you reach a certain age(say 50)that it starts to become a losing proposition f`ing around with all these drastic and exorbitant dental procedures....

if it was directly in front,i`d say yeah,you pretty much have to do it...but that far back on the side?..it`s not really even a chewing tooth...nobody`s gonna know you`re wearing a "flipper"(lol)...

and who`s to say definitively that they won`t have to graft some "cadaver "bone in there anyway?...

at some point you have to ask yourself,"what`s the point?"...

don`t they have those partials that you can use without the hooks?..

where`s saint?..

ask him about the flipper that only takes a small dollop of ahesive...i can`t imagine having those hooks around my teeth...
