That is priceless.
That is priceless.

Shawn's post below (to Hedge & Skulnik) was the highlight of the thread (IMO)... :142smilie

Could you two guys please let me know what part of it being winter time has to play with this cold streak?

Also what effect does el nino play in this cold streak and of course what about the polar vortex which is pumping all this cold air down into the canada and the usa?

Since you guys pretend to be the experts and know all about this please explain further.

This cold is nothing out of the norm for this time of the year with the current setup, please explain how this disproves global warming.

I know we have a blocking high in the north atlantic which is causing that low to retrograde back to the northeast coast which is why they are having snow and wind up there, which again is nothing abnormal.

I really want to learn from you two, please show me what I am missing.

Just to give you guys a heads up there is talk it may be cold in Feb and early March as well.

The best part is that Hedgy made the same fucking post one year later. After being mocked you would think he would take the time to educate himself. Even if you didn't believe the scientific community, you should at least learn what Global Warming is how the extremes of weather play into that. A year later, Hedgy is still as smart as he always was.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Going to be in the upper 30s this weekend. Unheard of for Duluth in early February.. Must be the Global Warming.:0074

Think I will start a pro global warming thread in March when we hit 60 degrees here.

Hedgy.... Why don't you take the sides of scientists instead of right wing politicians??

I don't think that it is all for financial benefit. I think that is just conservative paranoia. I am not saying it is true but I will side with Scientists instead of GOP.

Example.. Worked in a nursing home where an old scientist resided. He was a genius with an IQ in the 150s. He worked in Calgary for the Weather Service and resided in Duluth after retirement. He studied Global warming for years, coming up with hypothesis, and data. He would show be charts, maps, data, and all kinds of things I didn't understand. He was a guy who studied it and totally believed in it 100%. He gained no financial gain, the works he worked n were 20 years ago. This was coming from a w/c bound, retired genius scientist, who was dying in a rest home.. I believe him

I can listen to a genius scientist or idiots like Boener and Bachmann who spew bullshit and claim that Carbon Dioxide is not dangerous because it is "natural." One of the dumbest statements I ever heard and to think they can tell people this and the neocon cult following will listen and consider anything these half wits say as truth... Again, I will back the scientists and geniuses over half wits.

I'm still waiting for ONE PERSON who thinks global warming (in principle) is a farce to answer my simple question:

Do you actually think that man - especially in the United States - has not done damage to our eco-systems, atmosphere, and especially our waterways, during the industrial revolution and moving forward? Do you honestly think that there can be no repercussions from the pollution - air, agricultural chemicals, waste from industry - that our history has benefited from?

Anyone (conservative)?

I am not defending all Global Warming scenarios and positions. I am just asking each person to be realistic and think about what man (and especially our country) has done to our planet's ecosystem and expected future.

Completely dismissing an entire thought process, that is based on science, common sense, and history just does not make sense to me. Now complete global warming histrionics and overreactions to the situation legislatively does not make sense either.

But, the above questions stand. And I don't expect many serious answers, which tells me a lot...

The two posts immediately following yours pretty much puts to rest any chance that you'll find any conservatives on this site willing to offer any serious debate on this topic, Chad.

I'd be glad to help Chad --
Which question do you want answered 1st
Do I think global warming is a farce --yes as with global cooling--climate change or what ever they are calling it now.

I doubt there was much input from man back in ice age and other extreme periods.

on your part 2 --I agree I don't see how man could not impact eco system--but not a fraction compared to natures own forces-- volcano's tidal waves -el nino solar flares etc.

Now one question for you--if given choice of 1 degree cooling vs 2 degrees warming--which would you take and why.

Conservatives on this site? Huh? William Buckley was a conservative. Dwight Eisenhower was a conservative. Even Barry Goldwater was a conservative...but...HH, doggie, Skulnutz? They aren't, cannot be, called conservatives.

You see, to be a conservative, you have to meet a minimum intelligence standard, and a minimum knowledge standard so you can form and defend an opinion.

HH, doggie, skulnuts, GW, and Terry all fail that test. When faced with facts, they all immediately retreat behind slogans and name calling, since they never understand the issue.
