Weasel, I will admit I think some of the worship (which I think is a fair term for it) is over the top. I've been thinking a lot about all of this stuff - inclusive of Super Delegates getting cold hard cash as an incentive for "hopefully" supporting the candidates. That one really stuck in my craw - I just don't understand how that can be allowable for any party - but I digress...
I am going to have to buckle down and start answering some serious questions on supporting Obama with a vote. I've said all along that I'm not sure there's that much "there" there, and I still wonder. I won't just vote for him just because he is a democrat, as I've mentioned I personally like McCain, and will have to take inventory. I can comfortably support Clinton on a lot of things, but need to study Obama more.
One thing that's been rattling around in my brain...I wonder if there's a chance that Obama could really BE one of those galvanizing figures that could change the country in some unique ways - like with many of the race issues and big city areas of blight. Maybe changing the dynamic (or the lack of a dynamic) in the "ghetto" mentality and those areas. I wonder if he could somehow parlay the support of the black population into a new outlook of change and taking more responsibility for changing the culture. His political views - economically and socially - don't necessarily reflect that kind of thing, but perhaps he is the kind of person who could use the pulpit to motivate those who have never felt like being motivated to make changes? And I know there are plenty of areas of blight that are not unique to black populations - maybe Huckabee can work on those...
I don't know - just something I've been tossing around on my long drives to and from work.
