Christ, talk about unrealistic expectations! I'd leave for the money too if I took Wisky to 3 straight Rose Bowls and had to hear about it not being good enough. Jeez Louise.

I mean he's been there for 7 years. Him finding success with players Alvarez recruited is going to end at some point.

if you add dII experience - you have just quoted kelly's resume- I assume badger backers would take a similar coach, not insinuating hte individual would have similar results, but a (presumably)high character guy that wins

Exactly. Some pretty high profile jobs are opening up next year. There's no way Peterson or Patterson are leaving. Even the ex coordinators don't want to come back.

I dunno, how are you gonna sit down with a hot coaching prospect and say "Come to Wisconsin"

You're getting an assistant coach at a big school or a head coach at a MAC or Big East school.

BBC:

Didn't Wisconsin do exactly that, when they approached Barry Alvarez of Notre Dame with the Wisky coaching job?

That seemed to work out pretty well. And even though Wisky was terrible when he took over, he turned the program around to be one of the best in the Big 10.

It's not as hard of a sell as you would think it would be.....

EDIT: oops, after re-reading your post, I guess I just justified your point! An assistant at a big school....

Bret Bielema 0-2 in Rose Bowls and wont be coaching the third. Barry Alvarez making a one game comeback for Rose Bowl where he is 3-0 in Rose Bowls. That's the rip on Bieliema, can't win big games and why UW faithful never warmed up to him.

Chris Peterson will be in Madison shortly for an interview. He makes $1.7mm at Boise. Bret was pulling down $2.6 at UW and WISKY gets $1mm from Arkansas for Bret's buyout. Money wont be a problem in incentivizing Peterson. The other name that is surfacing here is Al Golden from Miami as they face more NCAA sanctions and a departure would be good timing. Paul Chryst from Pitt is reportedly out as he has a $6mm buyout on his contract and no other Big East coach has surfaced. Dave Doeren is out at NIU as Barry isn't interested. Kent st. coach already signed on at Purdue so where do you get we will end up with a MAC or Big East coach? I think Barry knows he has to make a splash with his coach hire to satisfy boosters and alumni. He hand picked Bret to be his successor in 2006 when Bret was Defense. Coordinator. giving an unknown commodity a chance. It wasn't well received then and why no love loss in Bret departing.

Al Golden???? Huge downgrade there I would rather see Darrell Bevell than Al Golden. Guys a weak game coach.

I can see Peterson being very interested in the Wisky job. If they can get the care for his kid up there that he has in Boise then I think that would be a great fit.

Wisconsin is going to the RB by default this year. OH St and Penn St place Wisky in a December bowl any other year.

Paul Chryst took half the coaching staff with him last year. That had a lot of people asking serious questions about the program. Now, BB hauls ass? You can say it's all about a change...and money....but there is something deeper to this.

I guess we will see.

He's getting tired of hiring assistant coaches and then having them leave for pay raises.

Bret told the players he wanted to go somewhere where he had a chance to win a championship. WTF?? So you're basically telling those kids they're not good enough. He also told that to Alvarez. GL BRET! LOL! Barry made you a head coach and you followed Barry's game plan for success. Then he's leading a PIG SOOEY chant at his press conference less than a week after clinching a Rose Bowl berth. LOL! GL BRET u piece of shit!
