Sooo pointing out that most of the people who are supposedly being "offended" really don't give a shit isn't a valid argument?

A team should not be named after the color of someone's skin. What the fuck is wrong with some of you? It will be changed. It is just a matter of time. I swear to god it's like some of you don't understand history at all. It is a fucking reminder of what a dark history this country and this world has. "They aren't offended so lets keep this racist fucking nickname for my favorite team." JFC Some of you are completely fucking worthless human beings.

It's obviously an offensive nickname. Imagine if a new franchise was started and called itself the Blackskins. There would be riots in the streets. It surprises me that the name wasn't changed back in the nineties when people started to become more sensitive to these issues.

A question for all the people bashing Costas. Why do you listen to him if he offends you? Seems like some people are always bashing him.

i think that most people that disagree are just tired of having politics rammed down their throats 24/7...they tuned in to watch football, not to be lectured to...

he has the right(with nbc`s blessing) to say whatever he wants....as daniel snyder has the right to do what he wants with his franchise and it`s name(costas and nbc be damned)....

don`t like it,write costas a letter or boycott the nfl....

It really sucks to make people have to think for once.

When I was a kid I was passionate about sports. Actually into my early 20s. But its all BS really. Does it really effect your life? No. If it does, you have issues.

"Take, say, sports -- that's another crucial example of the indoctrination system, in my view. For one thing because it -- you know, it offers people something to pay attention to that's of no importance. [audience laughs] That keeps them from worrying about -- [applause] keeps them from worrying about things that matter to their lives that they might have some idea of doing something about. And in fact it's striking to see the intelligence that's used by ordinary people in [discussions of] sports [as opposed to political and social issues]. I mean, you listen to radio stations where people call in -- they have the most exotic information [more laughter] and understanding about all kind of arcane issues. And the press undoubtedly does a lot with this.

You know, I remember in high school, already I was pretty old. I suddenly asked myself at one point, why do I care if my high school team wins the football game? [laughter] I mean, I don't know anybody on the team, you know? [audience roars] I mean, they have nothing to do with me, I mean, why I am cheering for my team? It doesn't mean any -- it doesn't make sense. But the point is, it does make sense: it's a way of building up irrational attitudes of submission to authority, and group cohesion behind leadership elements -- in fact, it's training in irrational jingoism. That's also a feature of competitive sports. I think if you look closely at these things, I think, typically, they do have functions, and that's why energy is devoted to supporting them and creating a basis for them and advertisers are willing to pay for them and so on."

Between The Hedges
Lets be honest. You can't make this statement without looking foolish. How would it be possible to even come to this conclusion? C'mon guys.

A lot of the polls being conducted haven't exactly been thorough.

I'll give the guy credit for having the balls to speak his mind on a controversial matter. Agree or disagree with him but calling him a douche for speaking his mind is absolutely ridiculous.

I call Bullshit, this one has 100% Native approval

It's such a joke it's even being talked about by people who have an iq over 80 it's been the Washington Redskins since 1937

Hopefully Dan Snyder tells the PC morons it's his team and it's not changing

Why is the debate centered solely on the Wash Redskins?

Why the hell aren't the Kansas City Chiefs being brough into this big stinky mess?

I'll tell you why, because this is more about taking a shot at certain people in the Redskins front office and using this as a vessel to take those potshots and less about the valid or invalid morality concerns of their name being "offenseive". It started that way, and in our great society where we work so very hard to one up each other with how offended and righteous we are about a topic, it has spiraled to the point that the POTUS feels the need to weigh in.

I swear to christ, people need to get a fucking hobby.

There is a difference between the Indians, Chiefs, and the Redskins. How about the Harlam Darkskins? The point is that it has been offensive and whether people like it or not it will be changed and very shortly.

Every time you comment you just dig a deeper hole for yourself.

First of all you would know all about people with IQs in the 80s.

Just because something has been one way for years doesn't make it right.

Dan Snyder is not in charge of this. If the NFL wants it changed, it will be changed. He does not have full control of his team.

It will not be changed by the nfl :mj07: It's owner is Dan Snyder and he is the boss of his franchise, it's not changing

You are such an idiot. Debating with you is like nothing else in this world.

And you are wrong. When the NFL feels the tide has shifted against them, the name will be changed. No matter what Dan Snyder wants. Besides the NFL will make a nice penny on all the new merchandising. It's coming fat boy. Just a matter of time. This isn't 1960 anymore.

It's not going to be changed just because some PC morons say it's offensive

I still call the Washington basketball team the bullets and the baseball team in Tampa the Devil Rays, fuck PC
