Doesn't matter if ya like the Pats and or Brady we have to appreciate his talents and the Company of GREAT QB'S that he is trying to join.

Blitz made a very honest comment today.

Brady "may" be the best ever, Don't Hate, sit back and enjoy...

The key word being...MAY

The term best ever has to encompass a whole body of work. That body of work therefore IS NOT just based on #of SUPER BOWL VICTORIES.

The term best ever has to include the #'s posted throughout the career in regular season play.Quite naturally because it is the overwhelming % of the players accomplishments in the week to week and season to season rigors of performing at that high level.

The honest description of MAY BE by Blitz peaked by interest to see what company of QB's Brady is in fact trying to join.

Some findings below.

have highlighted[purple] some other names that a lot of I saw their whole careers or maybe some of the youngsters here have read about or have seen on video tape:mj07:

Given the #'s above .....Blitz's comment of "MAYBE" was a case of just being nice in his retort to a message on the forum.

Mr. Brady is poised to join some rarefied "AIR" in his career w/his body of work.

please feel free to correct any stats...

Unitas only played a 12 game season. his numbers would have been a lot higher, obviously, with a 16 game season ;)

Interesting Topic....

I'm not sure which side you are arguing - based on stats to date, he is nowhere close to the best ever (obviously). I think that is the point you were trying to make - but it is hard to tell based on the text of your message.

I'll certainly agree that Brady had the best SEASON ever by a QB this year. Hands down - no doubt about it.

But given that Brady is 30 already - and is so far down the list off all the important stats, he'll have to play a long time yet to be considered the best ever. He's only thrown 30 TD's in a year ONCE - this year.

Most people (I think) view TD passes thrown as the holy grail for a QB - much like the HR record in baseball. It is not the only stat that matters of course, but it seems to be the most important.

Right now Brady has 197..... the current "best ever" Brett Favre has 442 and counting. Assuming Favre plays next year, I would assume another 25 on top of the 442 to reach 467 for his career (and who knows, he may play more than 1 more year).

For Brady to reach 467 by age 40 means he'd have to AVERAGE 27 TD's a year for the next 10 years. Doable? Yes. Will he do it? We'll see.

Tom Brady. Greatest YEAR ever? Oh yea. Best QB ever? Not even close.

Now, if we are talking Peyton Manning - yes, he very well may own every record by the time he calls it quits.

But for now? Brett Favre (based on numbers) is the best ever. Also, the only player in league history to win 3 MVP's in a row.

I think there is no denying that Brady is one of the all time best QB we have seen .

The thing that makes him so great is his accuracy and his consistant play when the game is on the line. He is tall and stands in the pocket well.
He moves up and avoids sacks. He seldom fumbles and always protects the ball. His TD to interception ratio is very good.

He is smart as hell and knows what everyone is doing on the field. He reads defenses well. The guy is a gamer.

what more can you say about Brady .

Of course I put Peyton in the same class.

Total stats are not the be all and end all for determining the greatest QB. Bledsoe is ahead of Montana in a lot of stats, but who was a better QB.

You need to look at the big picture. How did he play when the game is on the line? How did he play in big games?

I am not saying Brady is the greatest of all time. You could argue who is the greatest forever. Several QB's qualify for greatest ever and I think you could make a good arguement for several.

I would say that after only 7 seasons as a starter, Brady is clearly among the games greatest, as are Manning & Favre...

How many on that list took their team to 3 Super Bowl championships and won 2 Super Bowl MVPs?

Also, according to your "list" Fran Tarkenton must be better than Joe Montana huh?:mj07:

On another point, you conveniently leave out INTs. If we are going to compare the good shouldn't we also compare the bad?

Taking Favre (since by your list he is top dog) and breaking down TDs and INTs then dividing by the number of years played Favre tops Brady by an avg of 26 TDs to 25. Taking INTs also into account Favre throughout his career has averaged 17INTs a season while Brady has averaged 10.

Puts quite a different look on your comparison.

First, I think brady proved he is head and shoulders over manning this year...today was typical peyton who probably has more first round playoff exits than any other qb... And he had tons of chances at the end of the game to win it.

As far as being the best qb ever, he is making a case. What more does he have to do, hes accomplished every goal you could ask a qb to do: 16-0, multiple super bowls and mvps, peeled off 21 straight wins, late game heroics, just yesterday he surpased simms for highest completion %, and the td record. (He will most likely surpass montana in total tds, wins, and yards)
