Early capping front runners are Matteson--Villegas--Sabbatini. I haven't taken one yet.

Early flop candidates are Austin--Perez--McCarron. Looking to fade these guys.

Good week by all last week, looking forward to another.

Yea good stuff, was not by a computer for the past 3 days, missed a lot of stuff. I did watch a little bit of the golf. Amazing choke job by the mullet.

Scott Piercy was extremely impressive. A little surprised that Rocco wd'd  I wonder if this course will be set up similar to the open or similar to the birdie fest?

Tommy - 3 putt Matteson was on the top of my list also :toast:

Villegas 21.00
Sabbatini 26.00
Matteson 80.00

Betfair, as of right now. I doubt Matteson stays this high.

I doubt 3 putt Matteson wins, but a top 10 bet wouldn't be out of the question. Especially after the form Villegas Kim and Mickelson showed this past week.

Matteson to win 56.00 SIA

I've been known to take a gamble. This is a calculated gamble.

Sabbatini over Goosen -110 72 holes

Rory capped up well this week and I haven't been a Goosen backer for a few years now.

?I got married and took some time off,? Hoffman said. ?My goal every year is to peak here in San Diego for this tournament, a tournament I really would like to win. Hopefully the progression will go the same direction it's going, 19 (at the Hope), second (at the FBR) and hopefully a first this week at the Buick.?

Maybe the mullet is worth a play?

What do you guys think of Streelman here? He had some decent rounds here last year... played with Tiger in final group on Saturday in the Buick. Then lead the US Open after the first day...Seems to play pretty well here and he hasnt missed a cut this year.

Might look at him for small long shot and matchups if they have them (havent checked yet). *disclaimer he is a friend of mine*

ha. Streelman seems like one of the cooler guys on tour. You nailed it.. not only did he play with Tiger but came back and played well here again. Streelman is an east coast guy, or at least has east coast roots, but showed up in San Diego and introduced himself to the world. He played decent in the desert.. so yea he should be a factor this week. I have him on my fantasy roster.

He is a really cool dude. He actually is a midwest guy, grew up right outside Chicago, but then went to Duke for college. I played in a good money game growing up and one of the guys that was a regular somehow met Streelman right out of college. Became one of his sponsors, and he would come down and stay with him in the summer and play in this game/practice. My mom was the head pro so she let him practice and play for free.

I was playing all the time and was one of the best players in the group so we always played together against some other mini tour guys. Good times. Visited him when he came to the Shell and then when he came to the Valero Texas Open we had a big party for him. Cool guy

Looks like Tindall is on the same guys as our board this week
1pt e.w. Troy Matteson at 66/1 (totesport, Victor Chandler, Sky Bet 1/4 1,2,3,4,5). Has been prominent several times in this event and current form looks promising.
1pt e.w. Nick Watney at 66/1 (General 1/4 1,2,3,4,5). Strong California connections, took the eye last week and ninth here in 2007.
1pt e.w. Charley Hoffman at 55/1 (Betfred, Boylesports 1/4 1,2,3,4,5). San Diegan would love to win this event and clearly in great form after FBR play-off loss.
1.5pts e.w. Rory Sabbatini at 25/1 (sportingbet, Sky Bet 1/4 1,2,3,4,5). Dropping lots of hints that he's about to return to his best. Third here last year.

Not that it matters that much, but reading Mickelson's presser.. he is puting in a new driver this week, its one he worked on all offseason, it just got approved this week. Obviously driving was an issue last week.

Before you cry ?homer,? understand this: Until Mr. Woods came along ? and he's as much a San Diego golfer as most ? locals won the Buick regularly, thanks to their comfort on the poa annua greens. Seven players who have lived in the county have won the tournament. And this year is the 20th anniversary of the most shocking win by a local, the Greg Twiggs upset. Maybe there's some karma there.

It certainly has been an impressive start for San Diegans this year. Perez captured the Hope, and Hoffman lost the FBR Open playoff to Kenny Perry. Piercy, the San Diego State grad and rookie, has three top-20 finishes thus far. Lunde, a 33-year-old rookie, contended in the Hope. Mallinger hasn't surfaced much yet, but he's been stellar the last two years at Pebble Beach. Stadler has fired some of his best pro rounds at Torrey.

well 5 dimes didnt do us any favors this week

South Course is supposedly set up brutal.. almost identical to the US Open setup.

They also haven't posted any alternative lines, just the generic ones that every other website has.

Might be a no play week for me.

Outright

Camilo Villegas 20/1
: two missed cuts on his first two appearences here but a t13 last year along with a t9 at the Open. Not too concerned about the MC last week as he only missed it by one stroke.

Hunter Mahan 40/1: more of a speculative play here but he played well in the two events here last year. Decent tune up in his season opener last week. 40/1 is nice without Woods in the field.

will add one or two more tomorrow
