I can't stand Al Gore. He's not 'my boy' and the environmentalists are almost as annoying as PETA.
The fact remains that Nader cost him Florida in 2000. If he had won Florida, he would have won the election. Therefore, Nader cost him the election.
It's not that complicated.

If Obama wins the McCain people will not stop slinging mud and will fight every inititive tooth and nail. It will get very ugly as they try to discredit Obama at every chance they get. Just my opinion.
Thats like saying it was my fault the drunk driver hit me on my way to work because I should have called off that day.
Penguinfan, are you one of those guys that loves to make analogies, but they're usually really bad analogies, like this one?
No one's argueing against 3rd Party/Independent candidates but the facts are the facts. You remove Nader from the equation in 2000 and Gore wins that election easily. Nader supporters, when polled, favored Gore over Bush by a wide margin.
So it's not possible that states that Bush lost would have went to Bush if not for Nader supporters?
I hate Bush more than most, but Nader did not win him the election.
Been there done that, PEROT instead of Bush, read my lips, you don't get my vote.
I'm sure you're aware the same will happen if McCain wins. The highly partisan folks, like yourself, are helping bring down this house.
I glad to hear your take on Gore--it restores my confidence in you.
Yep if he won Florida he'd won election--however if he'd carried his own state he won election also.
On 3rd party candidates--do you think Bill had remote chance of winning 1st time had it not been for Ross Perot--you win some--you lose some.
Dawg, what third party are you voting for? Nader? The problem with the third parties is that there are too many of them and they are not organized. If they can't organize a campaign then how do you think they could possibly govern the country. In 4 years maybe we will have a true third and fourth party. I hope so."Been there, done that"
This is the phrase that when someone says it, it tells me that they think they are a lot smarter than they really are. There really isn't a dumber phrase.
BTW, I voted for Perot as well that year.
Keep voting for the jackasses that the Dems and Reps put in front of us. It's really been working out well lately.
I might have put it in a overly simplistic way by saying that Nader cost Gore the election, but if Nader was not in the picture, Gore would have won.
As far as Bush losing votes, that's not even close to being true in any state. Nader pulled votes from Gore as opposed to Bush at about a 85/15 rate everywhere.
My in-laws are right wingers tried and true. They told me my vote for Ron Paul was a vote for Obama.
I hate this logic.
1. If McCain can't carry TN as a Rep, then he has no shot of winning the election.
2. I'm pretty sure who ever loses will use the 3rd party candidate as one of the reasons
3. I think someone mentioned polls said that Nader voters heavily favored Gore. We all know how accurate exit polls are. Just ask Kerry.
4. C'mon, Wednesday!!!![]()

IMO (I have used that a lot in this thread)
The first sign that you might need a break is when skullfuk starts rubbing off on you.
Also, if you don't believe exit polls then just look at Naders stance on whatever issue and use common sense as to who he would pull votes from.
