I've been an avid baseball card collector for damn near my entire life. I figured I would grow out of it, but I still find myself buying packs every now and then.
With 7 games left, it appears that Mr. Bonds will break the HR record that Mcquire set 2 years ago. A buddy of mine who still collects as well, turned me on an unbelievable website. At www.overstock.com they have an enormous amount of disounted merchandise that they're offering to sell at incredible low prices.
They have about 4-6 different Barry Bond's rookie cards. You can bet your ass that these will probably double or triple in value if he breaks the homerun record. Already, they have gone up quite a bit. The best part is the fact that they're offering these rookie cards at nearly 70% off the high end of the Beckett pricing guide. I already had a couple of Bond's rookie cards, but I didn't have his Topps card. Well, I purchased it for LESS THAN $40 BUCKS(and yes, they are the REAL thing}.
I'd suggest going over there and gettin' your hands on a few. If he does break it, I bet ya they'll sell every damn one of them in a matter of days...
