I've got a $4,500 vehicle--infiniti with 220,000 miles and can't see how I'd be better off getting rebate and buy new car than giving it away a buying another used vehicle.

Been waiting for friends wife's car 2005 maxima with 30,000 miles.

Figure which ever I bought (new or hers )will be worthless (as infinti due to mileage)when I'm ready trade again.

Only diff is would have $10,000 more invested (after $4,500 rebate)
plus higher taxes--and insurance every year.

I thought I read somewhere that these trade-ins were to be taken off the road & junked.

What will happen then is the junk yards will sell 'em with salvage titles and then they are 'on the road again'

I am not a charity;)

on a serious note, I looked into it, I could use my dad's old truck for trade in if he would let me buy it cheap from him, but I can't find a vehicle that would fit my lifestyle, 2 kids, wife and a dog. We make frequent trips 225 miles away and we need space.

i kinda figured ur dad just made poster type money and you have been soaking ur wife's families money under the guise of some billionaire CEO. Usually guys like u who scream foul on post boards To support Rush Limbaugh like views, made nothing on ur own but want to keep every last penny you received not from hard work, but was handed to u thru inheritance from somebody else. It is okay tho. I have seen worst.:toast:

guess I'll stop looking. Pretty sure my chitty car doesn't even qualify! :mj07: How could it be more of a clunker?? oh well!

Guess im out to. I have two of those. Was never big in cars and once had one so bad my buddy borrowed it and never brought it back:mj07: I asked where is my car? He said "i took that piece of shit to the junk yard". My mom was thrilled and invited him over for dinner. :mj07: Loved that car.

I just heard the government is throwing away 2 billion more of our tax money to keep global warming in check. What a fleecing of America.

yeah, that certainly is a rare circumstance you have yourself in. a family of 4 with with a dog. they don't make ANYTHING that would be suitable for that situation.

Good!

What's so bad about this program?

I want you to actually write it in here, instead of just yipping.

About the cash for clunkers program? My guess would be is that it is another drain on the economy because it's obviously not much more than a sink hole due to already dropping all of their cash allotted.

Maybe you are speaking of the global warming, though.

I think it is good for folks that intended to purchase new car anyway--but for majority believe it is inticement to go into debt further--
--and most if not all of $4,500 is gone when you drive new car off the lot.

"the bunker"
i was looking into this...but my "wagon queen family truckster" wasn`t on the list.....:D

some of this is nonsensical...junk em all?....i`m sure some of these cars are still very useful....could be viable transportation for people who can't afford new, but would benefit from a good used vehicle......not to mention the ripple effects--repair parts sales. etc.......

all that good stuff junked...

just imagine how much new cars sales are going to crater once this program is over.....

i hope these "clunkers" don`t end up in south america...
