That doesn't make sense Duff.
When did Duff ever make any sense?

No, I don't think it's a sensible or prudent activity from a supposedly Christian pastor. I note the right wing for the most part has been silent on this issue, and I think there's a good reason for that.
I don't think God or Jesus would agree with doing it, either, but I'm far from an expert on it.
I think it's really stupid idea considering what will surely happen overseas, where our soldiers will be more threatened and would guess some would die because of it. I think our country supposedly stands for better things than burning religious books from other religions - in fact - it stands EXACTLY against that kind of behavior. And when someone from our country engages in it, it hurts the rest of us, and weakens our country.
People say we shouldn't care what one wacko does, and that he has the right to free speech. And yet, many in this country continue to hold an entire religious group accountable for the wacko actions of a few extremists. We see how one person can incite others to engage in the same behaviors - we have an example of that here, as we see. I'm sure there will be copycats out there that will come out to support the wacko, to show the other wackos that, um, I guess they CAN do that.
I don't think burning the main religious symbol of another religion is free speech, I think it's being done to incite another religion, which I don't think is protected. And I certainly don't think it's appropriate for someone who claims to be a man of God and all that stands for to be intolerant of another religion because of the actions of a few members of it.

Okay. I'll burn a Torah, Book of Mormon, Bhagavad Gita and a Veda. I'll even throw in a copy of Alice in Wonderland.
Better?
People want to rationalize this thing by arguing for Billy Bob's right to burn a Quran because it's within his First Amendment rights to do so. The problem is that Islamic fundamentalists aren't rational people and they have no interest in rational arguments or First Amendment rights. This asshole in Florida is going to create a....... (this for you Trench) SHIT STORM ! and the winds are already swirling.....
This weekend is going to be a touchy situation.
I don't remember any 9/11 with exception to the 1st anniversary being filled with so much drama and being held up with so much importance. Now PLEASE I don't want to be misunderstood on this point, but why such importance on the 9th anniversary? Something is building up, I'm not sure what it is, but I hope I have prepared for it properly.
.................................................................What I do care about is the safety of American soldiers and American citizens both at home and abroad.
I also agree with Chad's point that this will open the door to every copycat whackjob looking to make a name for himself. Which brings us back to Lumi's point... Billy Bob the belligerent preacher will have succeeded in creating a "shit storm".
...and whispered... "You burn just one Quran and even Jimmy Hoffa will wonder what the fuck happened to you." :SIBSomeone tapped him on the shoulder...
Your attempt to compare shoddy journalism with Billy Bob the belligerent preacher's actions, is itself an act of desperation, but at least it's consistent with your neocon views. :0008--Glad to see all the liberals here and liberal media have a change of heart--"all of a sudden"
