How in the hell could 3 adult women be held captive for 10 years and not escape from this guy?

They were 20, 16, and 14 when taken hostage. I couldn't imagine what they were going through but I'm sure the thought of him harming them or killing them made them abide by whatever rules he gave them. It's survival instinct. You do what you have to do just to stay alive and if that means listen to what he says then they do it.
I know I always tend to think "well I would have done this or that" but when you really get put in that situation you lose all of your normal thought processes and that all goes out the window. I tend to be a very calm person but we had a customer get rear ended in front of our building one day and in the process of trying to call 911 I locked up and went into panic mode.
We also kind of had a hostage situation here one day. A customers son in law kidnapped his own child and brought him into the garage and was keeping us at bay. I was at lunch and happened to come back and walk into the situation having no clue what was going on. He told us not to call the cops and I sat frozen in my chair in fear. Eventually the situation got diffused and he was taken to jail but damn that was scary!

I'm dissapointed they let this happen and how when he was on suicide watch it makes you wonder. IMO this was too easy of a way out for him. I wanted him to rot to hell in jail.
Fortunately for me I do believe in Heaven and Hell. Because of that I can be happy knowing he's in a place that can match what he did to those young ladies.
Hopefully these ladies can find peace in their hearts and get to live the rest of their lives the way we were meant to live them.

Because the man they are with makes them feel worthless. When you are told repeatedly that no one will ever love you, that you will never be good enough for anyone ever again, that you could never survive without them, and you are nothing it tends to mess with your head. It took me almost 3 years to grow a backbone and stand up for myself and I still don't understand why I let myself be treated that way. :shrug:
