YTD Record: 35-37 for -0.92 units
Florida -125 (@ Kentucky) for 3 units ? The Gators are definitely reeling a little for a team that was suppose to be the cream of the crop in the entire nation this year. They only have a 12-9 conference mark, losing 3 of their last 5 series and only recording a sweep against struggling Vandy back in mid-March. Kentucky is a good team that keeps surprising despite their questionable starting pitching. Somehow they remained as high as #3 in the polls despite going 1-3 last week including a series loss to Vandy. Kentucky has definitely been the better offensive team as of late, but its hard to ignore the potential that runs from top to bottom of the Gators lineup. Florida is the better defensive team and while Kentucky has a pretty good pen that keeps them in games and consistently bails out their starters, Florida?s bullpen depth and quality really can?t be matched. As for starting pitching, big edge goes to the Gators. Kentucky sends out their #1 guy Taylor Rodgers (4.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP. 310 OBA and 62 K?s in 61. 1 IP). Of note is Rodgers stats against better competition, his conference only line is 5.21 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, .342 OBA and 29 K?s in 38 IP via 7 starts. He has a 1-2 record in those 7 starts and simply he has given up a ton of hits in those outings as noted by the high OBA. That is going to hurt him tonight against Florida. Gators counter with Hudson Randall (3.46 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, .261 OBA and 42 K?s in 52 IP. Randall?s conference only stats are just as good as his overall season #?s (3.29 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, .278 OBA and 25 K?s in 25.1 IP). Randall has only made 5 conference starts as he sat out two weekends after having a rough outing vs. Ole Miss. He?s pitched the last two weekends including a good outing last weekend vs. Arky (6 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 2 ER, 3 K?s). Randall?s control is one of his biggest edge, he?s had only 5 BB all season! Kentucky is a free swinging club so great command will be a big advantage tonight. All of that leads to my biggest play this season.
