B'ham,AL.
the regular season did mean something. if all the other undefeated teams didn't choke and lose one they could have played LSU for the title.

OkieState nobody to blame but themselves.

Oregon woulda been a rematch too but still blew it vs usc

Ok St loses and they blew their shot. But an SEC team losing doesn't blow theirs?Im an SEC fan but thats BS.

A team that is not the best in their division or conference can all of a sudden be the best team in the country is just not possible if the regular season means "everything".LSU's win @ Bama in November meant nothing.

Iv'e been saying that since last year and could not agree with you more.....You don't win your conference you sure as hell don't play in the national champ game....Bama had ZERO business being anywhere near that title game yet the SEC is up college football's ass so they take TWO teams from that conference?? What a joke...

Pool - while I completely understand your premise, it is hard to say it is a joke when Bama kicked LSU's arse. I would have loved to see Okie State-LSU, but it is hard to argue what happened.

I truly hope Oregon wins out, because that game would be compelling if Bama wins out. I like most of the country, would like that matchup.

It comes down to whether or not teams can win out. If teams win out, this is not an issue.

It has nothing to do with who beat who in that game....Anyone can beat anyone on a given day..The point is they had zero business even being anywhere near that game in the first place... Just like OU years ago when they didn't win their conference yet play for a national title...College football could be so great but it's always a joke.

SEC team lost to the #1 team by 9 points and didn't allow a TD.

B12 team lost to an unranked 6-4 team that was holding a 2-4 record in the B12 and gave up 37 points in the process.

If you can't see the difference in those two losses calling you a conference homer is an understatement. that is just plain idiotic to compare those losses.

I'm sorry the SECW had the two best teams in the country last year. That doesn't ever happen and it's tough to swallow for outsiders. Best you can do is move on and hope the SEC gets worse

Me a conference homer? For the B12? Did you not read where I said I am a fan of the SEC.I have lived in B'ham and been an SEC fan my entire 41 years so yeah I am a conference homer for the SEC.I just disagree with the way things went down last year.

And why only compare the two losses? Why not look at the entire schedule and the wins? The SEC is very top heavy lately and not near as good as most will try to convince you it is.

OK show me what wins on OSU's schedule from 2011 deserved a lot of recognition? 4-5 Texas / Texas A&M games? OU without ryan broyles? You could argue the only win worth noting on their whole schedule is the KState game. And the national perception of KState hasn't been that high until this year.

Alabama's only big notable wins were against Arkansas and Penn State. The rest were nothing special.

I read your last statement from too many places too often. YES the SEC has been top heavy the last few years. Someone please tell me a conference that HASN'T been top heavy in the same time span.

ACC/BigEast - not even up for discussion

B1G - Wisconsin, OSU, and I guess you can include MSU. But only one of these each year has been elite, the other two above average and then a bunch of run of the mill teams with a couple doormats

B12 - 1 elite team from the south each year that will prob lose it's BCS matchup. couple 8-10 win teams. lots of .500 or worse

Pac12 - Oregon and Stanford. That's it. the bottom of this conference is heavier than the other 3 in discussion. Their run of the mill teams are below average in comparison

SEC - Find me a recent year where SEC doesn't have at least 3 teams that can play with the top team in another conference.

Huh? Is this based on 2 years ago?
OSU is better than Stanford, and I think USC, UCLA, ASU, UA, UW even Cal are pretty even with them. Not a heck of a lot of difference. Stanford still plays OSU, @ Oregon and @ UCLA to finish their season. They maybe 7-5 this year.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Didn't oklahoma state's loss come after a big school tragedy? Have no dog in this fight but I agree with Poolplayer that Packer loving #%#% (just kidding)

The fact that Bama was in the championship game last year was a total slap in the face of LSU. LSU played in Bama and beat them, go undefeated, and win the conference only to get slapped in the face by letting Bama get a second chance at em. So in that regards LSUs win did nothing to hurt Bama. So both teams have a loss with one beating the other and LSU gets screwed. LSU deserved to play someone else. Now lets say LSU lost to Bama, they would of been the team with one loss and would not of had a chance to play itself back into a national champ game.

On a further note, I want to see LSU win just so the sec Is out this year, not going to lie, I'm a hater!!

That Packer loving what??? LOL Not sure what to say having a Viking fan agree with me :0074 Totally agree on everything you just said.....Having Bama in that title game was a disgrace to LSwho and college football in general and yes i believe they did have a tragedy at the school shortly before that loss which would affect any team for sure.

ESPN hype machine pushed hard for the rematch and got what they wanted which was a bore fest of a game nobody wanted to see. Osu did lose to ISU after the tradegy which had a huge effect on the coaching staff which put a cloud over the whole team. Any other day they would have smoked Iowa State. I guess it was not meant to be. Sucked

It doesn't matter what people wanted to see, if that was the case it'd be ND vs. Ohio St. every year no matter the record...they probably have the 2 largest fan bases. It's for the 2 best teams in the country and anybody who says LSU/Bama weren't the best 2 teams last year are kidding themselves. I can understand the distaste for the SEC, I'd feel the same way if the Big 10 went on a 7-8-9 year tear like the SEC has. I know fans everywhere are fatigued, tired of hearing the SEC "love fest". There's a solution...beat 'em when it matters.

:violin:

As for the plane crash...tough situation. They still lost to a sorry ass Iowa State team....should they have gotten a freebie? Really?
