I like Illuminati, let me preface with that. He's very passionate about the issues that he posts about.

That said, would I feel more or less safe knowing he was packing behind me in line at the 7-11?

Less, and it's not even close.

I'm sorry, but anybody that applies for a concealed weapons permit that has no history of attacks against them or their family has a screw loose. What happens when one of you nuts loses your cool and becomes the shooter you are paranoid about? Ridiculous.

Screw loose? Just your opinion. I have a right under the law to carry a firearm in my vehicle and I do. Hope I never have to use it. I guess that 600,000 of us that have permits in Florida are wrong and u are right.

Big difference in choosing not to and calling those out that do. I can see why a lot of people dont want to be anywhere close to a gun, not sure why it is so hard for others to see the other side.

I'm not calling for any of you not to be allowed to carry your guns around, I'm just mocking the whole idea of it is all.

I don't even and haven't even locked my house doors since 1988 when I moved out of Baltimore. I couldn't find my house keys right now if a reward was offered. Now I have to get a gun? Jesus Christ!

I have a CWP that I have carried in Ga for over 30 years. I have a few situations where I was glad I was carrying a weapon but this one stand out in my mind.

This was many years ago.

I think I told this one before but not sure.

I am in my car and I am waiting to get out of the parking lot at a redlight. It is the lot of a large grocery store. I was the third or fourth car waiting to get out. This large white guy was talking and waving his arms to the driver in front of me. Yelling and screaming. I looked to back up but there was a car behind me and no easy way to move.

So the car in front gets a opening to pull away and then I pull up trying to get out . The guy opens my car door, reachs in and grabs me around the throat. He squeezes my neck hard enough to make me turn red and choke. Then he steps back and say.... get out of the car I am going to kick your ass.

The guy was coked up or something. He had a crazy look in his eyes. He never stopped screaming for me to get out of the car. I caught my breath.

and was stunned at the unexpected choking. I reached across and pulled out my .357 from the glove compartment. I pointed it at him. He was standing there screaming. He was about 10 feet away.

When he saw the gun it stopped him. He actually seemed to come to his senses. He turned and ran and jumped in a car and they took off.

Could he have pulled out a gun or knife and come at me again ? yep

Would I have shot him if he had approached me again ? Yeh he would have died right there.

Could I have driven off without further conflict ?

I dont know. There were still cars in front of me.

This all happened within a span of minutes.

All I know is that I had the gun and I chose to bring it out to protect myself.

Its never a good situation to have to shoot someone . You can carry that in your dreams and it can affect you for the rest of your life.

But I value my life more than some crazy screaming bastid.

I will continue to carry legally to protect me and my family .

AWESOME

Not that you were put in a life threatening situation, but that you had the means to protect yourself when a situation was presented to you.

As you had mentioned, drawing is one thing, pulling the trigger and ending someones life is something you have to live with forever. You didn't go "Dirty Harry" on the guy and chase him down. He bailed, which happens in a majority of the situations when punk criminals are met with equal or greater force.

I have to live my trigger action, but that was under combat situations, still it doesn't lessen the brain strain of my actions. All were clean, most were long distance shots, some were CQB stiuations.

sorry you had to go through that even if you were serving your country.

Kosar lives in Fort Lauderdale if you ever get the chance to stand behind him in a grocery store.

There is a reason Fark.com has a tag for "Florida". It is interchangeable with the "Dumbass" tag, but since Florida contributed so much to that category, they gave it their own.

PS: Just because a lot of people do something, doesn't make it right. How many people in Florida don't carry?

A Houston, TX man defended himself when a car jacker pointed a gun at him. The Houston man, who was a CCW permit (carry concealed weapon) holder, then shot the criminal, defending his own life. ...
