While sitting in my library this morning and reading the current Playboy, in the RawData section it states:

"The US is the most heavily armed society in the world with 90 guns for every 100 citizens":scared

I am in the 1 in 10 category that does not own a gun:nono:

Why buy a gun for protection and not carry it with you?
I recommend buying a handgun, take a saftey course, practice with hundreds of rounds, keep it clean, and carry it at all times.

Lewe

you forgot about the concealed weapons permit.
I wouldn't reccomend carrying a gun all the time if you dont have one in your state.

They are also limited to not public places , bars sporting events so on.

I have maintained one for over 20 years in ga.

the other guy may jump back out the door/window and take off down the street. With a pistol, I've only got a few precious seconds to jump out the door after him and try to catch him running down the block. With a rifle, I can stroll over to the door and give him a 3 block headstart and then pick him off without having to rush things.

Only in fear of your life my friend.

If they are not in your house and you shoot them ,that would get you 5 years for manslaughter. With 3 years and good behavior you would see the sunshine again.

As a convicted felon, no more guns:shrug:

The Boys, what makes you think in the story abouve that if he had a gun he could have done anything about it. With children in the house you have to watch where you keep them.

If you really want to help yourself in a situation like that then take Krav-Maga. Once someone has a gun in your face you don't stand much of a chance of getting to your gun stash but with Krav you have some what of a shot at really f'ing someone up, even if they have a gun.

No gun here. I have 2 small boys of 2 years and 6 months respectively. There have never been any accidental shootings involving children at a home without guns;)

cie...

when i was in insurance i had a client who owned a collision shop & did a lot of cash business...so he carried a gun with him. whenever he came home in the evening he placed the gun on the top shelf in his closet in his bedroom (so he claimed). some how his 4 year old boy got hold of the gun & shot his 2 year old brother in the head while playing with the gun.i first heard about the incident watching the local news.

i went to the funeral & it was one of the most heart breaking things that i have ever witnessed....a year later my client & his wife got divorced.....she blamed him for being careless with the gun...hopefully posters here who have small children will be more careful than my client was...

If it was me i would go with a shotgun and a turkey choke (screws into the top of the barrel and has a very tight pattern at 40 yards) - pull the plug and put 5 shells in the gun - with a pistol its very hard to be accurate

My 2 cents

Ever read any stories about home invasion????? They happen..........what would you do if you had one??

Boys, I would go to your local self defense place, or police college and pay for a days training of either a pr-24 or asp. Much safer plus in case of home invasion plus you won't have to replace the wall to wall shag from the blood!!

Seriously, much more efficient weapon using one of the sticks and having element of knowing your own home.
Much more effective, than having to screw around with a trigger lock while they are ransacking your place.

I've have more than a few in the house.
Most for hunting. The whole family has been trained on how and when to use them.

Nothing better for home defense then a 12 ga
semi with some double-ought or triple-ought
Buckshot :sadwave: :sadwave:

Hell I don't know
1%er... The ASP is a very good tool !! It will easily break bones. In the state of Indiana it is unlawful to carry one unless you are licensed by the State.

ruger 9mm. will have my ccw permit shortly. Looking for a good shotgun for home protection. Like an earlier poster said, everyone recognizes the sound of a shell being racked.

Yes they are illegal in many states. But I guess I would rather fight a illegal weapon and assault charge for causing a few broken bones than a murder 2/manslaughter charge for capping him. Even though it is home invasion they still will put you throuhg the ringer to make you prove it is in self defense. Case in point.

Store Clerk Shoots Alleged Robber

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at Nick's Short Stop party store in Clinton Township located at Cass Road and Romeo Plank

The 17-year-old clerk said he was protecting his brother who was being held up by a knife.

"I just want people to understand we are the victims and I hope he is OK," store owner John Acho said.

Acho said he wants to make sure people know his nephew was acting in self-defense.

Police said the robber had a knife.

"I hope he is OK, but he had no right to come in here and rob the store and try to hurt people," said Acho.

Police said the clerk fired several shots at the 22-year-old robber, hitting him once in the chest and once in the arm.

The robber is hospitalized in grave condition, according to officials.

This is the second robbery of the store since Acho purchased it a month ago.

The Macomb County prosecutor office will decide whether charges will be filed against the clerk.

Believe me I am all for self defense, just knowing someone who went through the heroics of defending his home and family and by shooting the asshat had to then go through the courts to prove self defense.

Anyway Boys, spend the money on some new knives for the chef and you"ll be happier!!:00hour
