BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!
I have a Ruger .357 mag, a Remington 870 Express Shotgun, a 7mm winchester mag rifle, and a 264 winchester mag rifle. I bought the pistol for my wife while I'm out of town.

Also have a concealed weapons permit. $12 bucks at the Secretary of State's office and no felonies, thats all it takes around here.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

ok, I will chime in with some more weaponry and home defense goodness for all you guys...

Still, I will beat the table again about the whole pistol thing... blah.

Now, for all you fellas with pistols, or thinking about getting one... the ole 9mm, glock, berretta, whatever you OG's wanna get.

STOPPING POWER.
9mm's dont have it. Now a .44, or a .45? you betcha. When the guy cranked up on speed/crack/crank comes breaking down your door at about 4am looking for something to swipe so he can sell it to get his next score... he's hyped up on something already most likely. You tag him with a 9mm in any place other than the face, he is going to keep coming at you. I've seen reports and first hand accounts of 300 pound guys cranked up taking 6 to the chest and still moving forward. You get yourself something with some muscle and stopping power behind it and you will be much safer. Now, it won't look quite as sexy and you won't be able to turn your hand sideways and rat-a-tat off 6 shots and yell "sheeeeeeeeeeeeeet biaaaatch!". But you will be standing over the thug and only using one round. You want something that will crush his chest cavity, not something that will make him a whiffle ball.

Now, for other ideas in home security protection... Go and get yourself a smoke grenade or two. put them in your nightstand drawer and dont tell ANYONE they are there. I tell ya what, I hear stuff breaking and thrashing around in my house... the first thing going down the stairs is not gonna be me... it's gonna be my smoke grenade. Depending on how loud the noises are or if I know for a fact there is more than one person, or they are really tripping... there will be a CS gas pellet taped to the bottom of that trusty smoke grenade. If you have a night vision scope, or goggles, even better. all they will see is two little green dots coming at them and then a muzzle flash, or a crushing uppercut from the butt of a rifle meeting their chin.

Now, other things that make me wonder... Home security systems like ADT and crap... wtf? You pay hundreds of dollars to have a system put in your house that will simply alert the police when someone breaks in. Guess what... its going to take 5-10 minutes for the 5-0 to show up right? If someone is really determined to get in your house and f-k you up... 5 minutes is all they need. break a window, hear the alarm, go kill someone or take their stuff and leave out the back as the cops are pulling in the driveway.
Now, couple that home security system from ADT with a flash bang or concussion grenade or something, and yea, I can see how it might be useful. Does anyone have like the ADT systems? I get these clowns stopping by my door at least once a week telling me how much safer I will be if I have their sign in my yard and pay them money. I just can't quite comprehend how? Can't I just steal my neighbors sign and put it in my yard and save the money?

I agree with you, although I do have the high power the closest to me I have hollow points in them and if that doesn't make them think the
.357 mag is only another few feet away and is always lonely. I would agree that a smoke grenade would be the way to go however I live in a ranch and that wouldn't be as practical as two to the head. I don't like the way my house is set up really but I like my chances to say the least.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Man, 70, shot dead by burglar

By TIM EBERLY
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 11/23/07

A 70-year-old Newnan man was shot to death Friday morning by a man who broke into his house through a back door, police said.

The burglar killed Bill Williamson Sr. after entering the home, located at 65 Roberts Road, according to Newnan police.

The home-invasion homicide was reported at 7:45 a.m.

Police said the burglar broke into a back door and entered to find the homeowners in the kitchen. They got into a verbal confrontation before the burglar shot Williamson.

Williamson's wife told police the shooter was wearing all black and had his face covered.

This happens way too much.

With a gun in the house and knowing how to use it, the wife has a good chance to keep her husband, and no one loses their father and grandfather.

How so? Do you keep a gun in every room in the house? That could get expensive. I'm not sure what a shotgun or pistol upstairs in a bedroom is gonna do in this situation when they are sitting in the kitchen.

"Sir, before you kill me do you mind if I go take a leak upstairs?":142smilie

While on the topic-has anyone thought about have a taser in the house?

The following will never happen in a house without a gun:

Sheriff: Horseplay Led to Hoke Child Shooting

Posted: Nov. 15, 2007
Updated: Nov. 16, 2007

Raeford ? A 9-year-old fourth-grader was playing with his sister and his best friend when a handgun went off, wounding him in the head Thursday, authorities said.

The children were alone in a home at 143 Independence Drive in Raeford when the 10-year-old boy who lived there brought out a gun. His parents had tucked the .25-caliber weapon away in a drawer, Hoke County Sheriff Hubert A. Peterkin said.

"Evidently, the son knew where it was and was showing off, horseplaying with it, not realizing how serious it was," Peterkin said. "The gun went off."

A bullet struck the 9-year-old in the head. He was airlifted to WakeMed in Raleigh and remained on life support Thursday night. Hospital staff listed him in critical condition.

"I heard a loud pop, and since I was ex-military, I knew what a gunshot sounded like," neighbor Telly Strayhorn said.

The 10-year-old girl, who is in fifth grade, was not injured. Investigators said they were able to piece together the time line of the accidental shooting by talking to the 10-year-old fifth-grade boy and his parents.

Strayhorn said the accidental shooting shocked him, especially since it involved three children who were close friends.

"I walked him (the 10-year-old boy) to the bus in the morning time," Strayhorn said. "The victim, I knew him, too, because they all ride the same bus.

"That's why it's kind of hard, because ... I knew they were best friends."

Peterkin said the tragic accidental shooting should be another reminder about gun safety, especially when children are involved.

"Anybody we can encourage to secure your weapons, please secure your guns. We just got to do it," he said.

Social workers were called in after the shooting and decided there was no cause to remove the 10-year-old boy who accidentally shot his friend from his home. However, authorities said his parents might face charges.

Agree with you 100% on the stopping power. I have a couple of pieces, couple of rifles, and various other toys, yes all illegal. No, small kids in the house, every room has at least one weapon stashed somewhere.

Just curious as to why in the world one would want to own illegal weapons. With all the crap you can get into getting caught with an illegal weapon.

I am more worried about someone breaking in and killing me than I am about having a few "toys" in the house.

I'm getting too old to carry on a fist fight for anything more than 30 seconds...so I needs my toys.

Hell I don't know
Totally agree with the stopping power. Our department went to the .45 for that very reason !! In marion co. (indianapolis) a deputy sheriff was shot by a man robbing a bank. The sheriff armed with a 9mm had shot the robber with his 9mm but the robber was still able to keep comming and eventually shot the deputy.

the land of confusion
With a pistol, I've only got a few precious seconds to jump out the door after him and try to catch him running down the block. With a rifle, I can stroll over to the door and give him a 3 block headstart and then pick him off without having to rush things.

Surely......even in the crazy ol' US of A.........this would be a crime?!!
