Have any of you had a dog that has had back surgery before? Our pooch had a ruptured disc and surgergy two days ago. Good news is the surgery went well and he should make a full recovery. We have all the meds and instructions (limit activity, etc.) from the hospital, just curious if anyone who's been through it has any words of advice. It's the first day back at our place this evening and he is trembling quite a bit. I know it is likely just due to the traumatic and strange event he went through. TIA for anyone thay may have something to offer.

I will not claim to be a dog but my doc told me that my trembling was due to the anesthesia and pain medication.

No comment from you on Watermelon Days, very disappointing.

Sorry. . . . you put some effort into it to. When I saw "From the Trib", my first thought was work-related and then I was going to get back to you, but it needed to be more than just an "lol" and then . . . the week was over.

You deserved better.

no apologies needed. Next time I want to interact with you, I'll have to figure out a different way. I just think you are trying to drive me to a social network.

My hound had the same surgery a year and a half ago. She was trembling alot after the first procedure, but was doing while she was just lying there because she couldn't walk. They ended up having to go in again to clean up some soft or hard tissue I can't remember which but after that point she really didn't tremble much because she was so doped up on the pain meds and steroids etc.
I'm sure you're pooch will calm down eventually. He just needs alot of love and attention.
Hope that helps and that he has a speedy recovery. Just curious buy how old is yours?

Deezy - we adopted him from a shelter, and they got him from another shelter (essentially rescued from a kill shelther), so the short of it we don't have his exact age, but believe he is about 5.

ya they try and judge by their teeth and when I adopted my Katrina survivor Schnauzer, they thought he was 4... had him 5 years now and he has started moving a lot slower in the last year... but I have incredible luck with my rescues and will never go any other way because there is no doubt that you can tell the appreciation in giving a good home :0074

if I ever hit the lotto I will have the biggest rescue center in the country :0074

My Aunt's dog was actually paralyzed before having a back surgery. She slowly came out of it and started walking and using the "facilities" on her own again too. She had to actually catherize her for a few weeks! Pretty devoted for sure!

You need to get on facebook.

You get pictures of my girls every time my wife changes their clothes, You know exactly what Hollywood star Jack is courting, when Dunc's dogs are getting their chicken, can chronicle Dawgball's quest for world domination, how much Rolltide saved at the store, what Woody had for lunch, what game ppabart's playing at the time, see the Turkeys on 6'5"s morning run and who smurph's nailing (pretty dry spell lately FWIW).

It's like the general forum without the riff raff.

Poon,

Good thoughts for you and your "pound Hound" which is what I call my little girl that I rescued.

We do have products that assist in the healing process and helps with the scar tissue.

Jack can get you my email.

I know I will catch shit for this,
but Mr. Poon asked...

I responded.

VA Nurse, I would like to send some stuff to you as well :0008
