My understanding: the chinese individual doesn't have much choice about the direction of china's growth. The chinese government commands where their profits go--a lot of it into US debt--and further growth--a way to stem instability, to detract from the lack of political and social freedom.

In china, as a matter of fact, individuals who point out the extremely polluted state of their rivers and lakes are jailed

Don't what election got to with it been going there past 8 years?

I like your pics--compare to Island I've spoken about numerous times with same weather as hawaii. --a short tour
http://www.sanyasunday.com/

Funny how you liberals have such a vivid imagination of things your clueless about>

I don't suppose you ever been to China.

There are lots of area of poverty--however they do not believe they are in poverty. In "their culture" areas of less fortunate doors are always open and neighbor helps neighbor--isn't any welfare state--no credit cards-no gangbangers--most have family atmosphere (husband -wife and child)

Quite the opposite of some cultures.

While I doubt I would live there permanatly is great place to spend winters and excellent investment opportunities--on property you only pay property tax at time of purchase--currency stable and no fear of coming credit card fiasco as they have none.

Lots of opportunity--in fact I may make my brother/sister in law and maybe 5 year old neice part owners of my business--depending on income tax structure here in future--not only will it reduce my taxes--but what an easy legitimate way to transfer money outside U.S.--and they may be so greatful they save it for me (currently around 5%)and give it back some day--what capital gains tax :)

My CPA and I our co-owners of our office bldg--and have another accounting firm that rents from us--Thank you for advice though--lots of advantages with spouse with dual citizenship ;)

I would expect distinct possibilty that your tax dollar might be paying for my benefits in near future--depending on election results. :)

He may want to have a real CPA look at it. :)

There's a reason that I have to travel to Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Canada and Mexico when there are "CPA's" down there who could easily do the same work I do.

Look forward to taking care of the generation that has left the country in such great financial shape by voting themselves tax cut after tax cut. I would assume that there will be a cap for when SS benefits stop coming, so I wouldn't count on SS money being there for you - but you already know that.

That is the key. The poor people need to be unaware they are poor. They need to be a docile, simple people not willing to protest. You have a winner in China, Wayne. Go with it.

DTB would be better off moving to Wasala and attending the AIP political rallies with the wacko Todd Palin. They could burn books that they do not agree with and the state has very few afro-americans.

Depends on what you call poor--When I grew up we got one pair on new jeans per school year--only time got new pair of shoes is when we out grew the other--only time we got a soda is when parents went out and we had baby sitter--picked up soda bottles to help pay $5 a month school bus fee--ETC

Wasn't just us but most in the small farming community--no one remotely considered themselves poor--just the way it was.

--and believe it or not we had wonderful time--
and would have to say it was much healthier--then spending all day text messaging or playing video games. :)

So what you are really saying is that Americans are addicted to consumption and materialism. Couldn't agree more.

Try selling that to Republicans though. Wasn't the governments answer to 9/11 to "go shopping"?
Why don't politicians from EITHER side promote frugal lifestyles/conservation/moderation?

Oh, cause it doesn't win votes.

Interesting comment you made there, seriously, Wayne. Intimating that there are lots of advantages with dual citizenship, and looking to make people completely unrelated to your business "owners" in your business. Never mind that you make your money here, benefit from the environment here which allows you to make the money you do, surrounds you with safety and security and benefits, and has allowed you the lifestyle and opportunities that have put you in the place you are now.

Not surprising that you are looking to take advantage of all of the positives here, transfer money out of here, avoid responsibilities that have afforded you the possibilities to achieve what you have - while providing you the freedom to ridicule your country and it's policies, while supporting the Chinese government financially, and morally.

I think I'm becoming more comfortable in my own skin, just reading your thoughts, Wayne. Way to use the USA, and support China. I'm sure some of your comrades understand. As long as you benefit, what's the harm, right?

Actually Chad --it's all about covering my own ass and being responsible for my own destiny.

I go too China often because that is where my wifes family is. I am sure I would find positive and negatives in any place I would visit often.

Now on covering ones ass let me give you a something to consider. You want to put all your eggs (currency) in one basket when we got an admin quading defict in 9 months?

If so fine--the consequences good or bad or yours to live with. I might suggest you can gift $13,000 each (you and wife) to anyone one you choose in any given year with no tax consequences. If you have someone in China-Canada or Australia (that you trust)--you may consider gifting and having them set up account for you in their currency.

If you want to invest in company (country)that is
increasing bebt at a rate so astounding they won't be ble to pay the interest in the future--and collects taxes from only half of population--thats your business--you got lots of dependents to support-- (da Base).
I only have a few to take care of.
I'll take care of mine--you take care of yours :)

-- I leave you with a quote from Warren Buffet--

"The 19th century belonged to England, the 20th century belonged to the US and the 21st century belongs to China. Invest accordingly."

I know it's about taking care of yourself and making as much money as you can, Wayne. Any way you can (in your case lawfully, I wager). There's nothing wrong with that, I suppose, to each their own. I just think that in some cases doing what you can to make your country a better place and help other people also has merit and should be a consideration as you go through life. Different ways to do that, of course, I think taxes is one of those ways.

I do have a bit of a problem when it comes to investing in, and ultimately supporting, a country like China. I would think that would be a common sense approach, patriotic, and not helping an economy Hell-bent on ruining our own country. And doing horrible things to many of their people, and working against freedom at every opportunity.

You are taking care of that mentality and supporting it, with every dollar you place there. Again, just my opinion, but feeding the monster that may try to put an end to my country just doesn't sit that well with me. I don't know if taking care of my own, at the expense of them in the long run (very possible) is the right way to go about it. You do have a vested interest in the country with family, I understand that. But I wonder aloud about some of the methods, when you are successful in this country, because of what it is and stands for, and then try to avoid the parts of it that you would prefer not to have come out of your pocket. Kind of convenient, in a way. Much like the bigger businesses you support, in a specific way, too.

DTB looking for ways to not pay taxes is pathetic at times. It seems to consume him.

I leave you with a quote from KOD

Show me a man that doesn't do his best to avoid taxes and I'll show you someone that doesn't pay any :)
