Dumbass
really?
might not meet your lofty standards, buy I`d say that making,14 straight ncaa appearances that included being ranked at some point during the season in 14 successive years out of the mighty wcc ain`t too shabby....
they`re actually the winningest program on the west coast since 1992....
0 titles
0 final 4's
1 elite 8
3 sweet 16's
15 tourney appearances (out of 22)
I'd say they're well behind both arizona and ucla
They were a better threat in the 90's than they are now and proved it in their 1 loss 1 seed 1 win in the tourney 2 years ago ( and almost lost to the 16 seed)
They've gone from and underrated program you don't want to play in march to an overrated program that isn't a final 4 threat
you`re ridiculous.. who said anything about the final 4?....that`s the point...they`re not in the pac 10 they`re from a lesser conference yet they do extremely well consistently(over two decades).......much like boise in football...
good grief...what a shrew......
Any way you want to define it they aren't the best program on the west coast over the last 5-10-20 years

I usually , actually I always keep to myself but I think you're missing the point I believe gardenweasel is making. You're rebuttal to gonzaga not being a a great program is with national championships, final fours etc. No one can possibly say gonzaga in basketball and boise in football have equal footing with regards to recruiting, yet they seem to beat top 20 programs year in year out and produce professional players. Can you honestly say that boise and gonzaga are not on equal footing with the "big time" blue blood schools with regards to what they have compared to what they are up against? If boise and gonzaga had everything that say The big schools you speak of you don't think that would make a difference? I personally think these teams are fantastic taking into account what they competed against. They get quality players to go to Idaho and washington to play against teams like Wyoming, Portland, st. Mary's, Air Force, Utah etc.... Not exactly the pac 12, sec or any other power conference yet they win an an astronomical rate and beat quality top 25 programs every year. I believe a few years ago boise states athletic director, wen asked about his lack of big games on yearly schedule, said (paraphrasing) "we will play any power conference team on a home and home". You know the responses? Crickets... These teams try with what they have and do a damn good job.
That's my opinion...but smarter people than me know probably more than I do.
I'll have to research the barely above .500 claim against power conference for both. I actually will look this info up now. Off top of my head though didn't John Stockton play in NBA? Kelly Olynyk? Adam Morrison, yes not good but still made it, Dan dickau played a couple Hundred games I believe, Ronny Turiaf...yes except for Stockton non were great pros but you said you're waiting for one player not one good player. So there is more than one and probably missed a few . Btw I believe Utah is in top 25 in hoops currently and had a pretty good year in football.. If that's next to nothing you have very high standardsI heard the same arguments from utah....and since they joined the pac 10 they've done nothing And the mythology of boise and gonzaga winning vs power conf teams. ...is....mythology recently. ...they aren't much above .500 Also still waiting for that pro nba player from gonzaga

don`t bother,p.k.....he`s trolling...but thanks for the response... nobody said they`re the "best" anything...they are the "winningest" program on the west coast since 92`(according to the Gonzaga b`ball website)...winningest doesn`t mean best......I don`t know where you got that but I didn`t make that claim... :
Ok so I took the time and will post the following. Your post from your research was that boise and gonzaga are barely above .500 against power conferences. Here is the info on Gonzaga&Boise

**Disclaimer: I did not count towards the records unless team was in power conference at the time of the game.

http://mbasketball.zagexperience.com/mens-basketball-tradition
nobody compared them to Alabama in football or the old ucla bruin basketball powers....
I made a comparison to a similar program from a similarly non-elite div 1 conference in football(boise st) and i still think it`s a valid comparison...both programs consistently compete with larger, higher profile programs and manage to hold their own on a fairly consistent basis...
that`s all...it was an innocuous comparison and hardly worthy of an argument.....
you disagree?...well, bless you and happy new year....:toast:
Go look up their record vs power conf teams in the last 12 years of thr ncaa tourney...it's under .500...and has a few losses to lower mid majors as well
As for that 75-48 record.....that's about 19-12 every year.....they sound like the typical bubble team not this great program that their made out to be
John stockton? I'm talking last 20 years....and none of those guys did anything in the nba.....so yes, still waiting for at least an average player in the nba (closest would be touriaf but he's been a career 8th- 9th man)
As for utah. ....was referring to them in football as they were the gonzaga of football (the boise state)...a mid major power that just needed a chance......4 years later they finally had a decent team....and finally had a winning record in conf play (and won their 2nd conf road game)
Point being.......they are exhibit a as to why you can't compare mid majors (esp in football) to lower conf teams because they play crap week in and week out (Wyoming-sdsu-etc) vs big boy teams.....a bit easier for a college basketball team to do it but as successful as gonzaga and xavier have been the last 10-15 years they have combined for 0 final 4's and maybe 2 elite 8 ' s (both xavier)
