Drugs are illegal
There's plenty of laws regarding the use; purchase and sale of them

Doesn't ever seem to prevent ANYONE from ever finding or buying drugs.

Ban a gun that's been in existence?....sounds great, but they will find there way into the hands of people like this nut job today.

As for what else could he use to inflict this much damage? Have you watched the news in the past 5-10 years? Trucks, pipe bombs, knives, etc..all used by other nut jobs called terrorists.

We can start confiscating guns of anyone convicted of any crime, even traffic violations. If you commit a crime while in possession of a gun, you go away forever. Convicted of injuring or killing another human with a gun, death penalty. If you start treating it like an economics issue, behaviors WILL change. Everyone has a price and people can be scared into action.

I don't have a solution. This is our culture. Even small communities can't ban weapons when when all their folks want to because the NRA sues them. Just pray it doesn't happen to you. No whammies. :0074

Yeah it isn't changing in our generation. Even if gun control ramped up, there are SO many guns in circulation, nothing would change immediately. Best just dealing with the tragedy. If you have kids in high school, say a little prayer and know your high school aged child in the US probably won't die to guns. Lock schools down, install blast doors, drill teachers and kids on mass killing safety like you would fire or earthquakes. And move on. A few dozen dead kids a year doesn't really change much in society.
If you want to live in a safer country, move. Dr. Feklove here signing off. Yee haww.

The two issues are simply not comparable. Even if they were, your logic fails on a number of levels. Is your answer to legalize, or at least decriminalize all drugs? Why bother spending money enforcing laws when people are going to get drugs anyway, right? Do you think more people, more kids would not use them if they were legal?

We are losing the war on drugs, but at least we are fighting it and making a small difference along the way. We have made no effort as a country to even pump the brakes on gun violence while other countries have made great strides.

Don't worry, your guns are safe, our children aren't, but your guns are. I hope you are happy with the choice.

You are correct, but the change has to start somewhere. My kids and my grandkids and their kids will likely be no safer if we start that path today, but maybe the generation after that gets a little safer and so does the next and the next and so on until one day these shootings are so rare the population isn't numb to them anymore.

Every change starts somewhere.

We have such a long way to go when it comes to race relations in this country. Should Dr. King's speech been reduced to "Meh, fuck it, nothing's gonna change"?

Dr. King knew it wouldn't change in a day and he likely knew things wouldn't be what they should be in 50 years, but we have made progress. It's up to us to start that progress instead of letting the NRA buy the lives of our children.

In Russia, they are trying to figure out how to deal with the recent rash of school stabbings. They don't have access to guns, so the kids have resorted to knives. The people of Russia are in a bit of a panic. Number of fatalities = 0.

From an interview with Dave Cullen, author of Columbine.

Would love to hear your solution to "stop it".

Encourage ALL African American males (and all POC) that are of legal age to purchase semi-automatics. I'm fairly certain that the laws will quickly change if this ever became a reality.

This is, of course, barring the much simpler solution of following what other countries have already done - as many here have suggested.

Peace! :)

Fuck your useless prayers.

Maybe useless to you.

We have to put a armed guard at a single point of entry of every grade, middle and high school. If we can spend 700 billion on military spending we can do this. It would at the very least stop these type of events. Has to be done.

Prayers for the families.

And, fortunately, a few heroes were on hand or the numbers would have been much worse.

Peace!

Assistant football coach killed in shooting acted as human shield to protect students

Marjory Stoneman Douglas Varsity and JV Football Program has confirmed that Assistant Football Coach Aaron Feis died.

Feis died at the hospital from his injuries sustained in yesterday's shooting, according to Denise Lehtio, Communications Director with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Varsity and JV Football Program.

Lehtio said Feis threw himself in front of children who were being shot at by the suspect acting as a human shield. Feis was transported to a local hospital, and was rushed into surgery. He died at the hospital, according to Lehtio.

"He died the same way he lived ? he put himself second," Lehtio said.

Aaron Feis went to high school at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, worked there, and spent his whole career there, Lehtio said.

"He was a very kind soul, a very nice man," Lehtio said.

"He died a hero", Lehtio added

I am pretty sure the school in Parkland employs an officer. They call it a resource officer I believe but I am pretty sure it is a normal cop with a gun.

how about we take a page out of UGAs book. Ok we hire a load of guards and put them in the schools and then these things continue to happen. Then what? Is it time to talk about gun laws then?

Lets turn the USA into El Salvador with armed guards in front of every building just so the hicks can keep their precious guns. Can we raise taxes to pay for it because pulling money from the sky probably won?t work. :mj07:

people need to get a fucking grip with this insane obsession with the 2nd amendment.

that shit was established in the 1700s. how can you with a straight face say we should never update laws and regulations that were created hundreds of years ago?

it also used to be legal to fucking OWN OTHER PEOPLE.

look at how ass backwards some of these countries in the Middle East are who still live by their prehistoric ideals. refusing to update things as the world advances is fucking terrible.

just because it is an "amendment" people have a huge hard on for it.

why is it so hard to accept that sometimes to preserve life you have to make some changes.

governments need to step up and stop being fucking pussies about who will get their fucking feelings hurt.

it used to be legal to not wear a seatbelt right? but critical thinking prevailed and realized hey you need to wear your fucking seatbelts now its a law. why? because we want to control everything you do! not because itll stop you from being thrown through your fucking windshield in a crash, right?

or how about the regulations they put into schools where you cant have sodas or other sugary shit? didnt that happen? that wasnt an amendment though so everyone was cool with it since it made sense. some people finally decided hey lets put some fucking guidelines in place so these kids dont eat themselves to death. lets get them to have more water and less sugary and unhealthy shit so they dont get fucking diabetes and grow up to be an obese adult with gout who gets beaten up by strippers.

to the guys who want to talk about using vehicles instead of guns, how is that even an argument? also, you know what they do to stop this? in built up areas with a lot of pedestrians they just build a big fucking concrete post so you cant drive into a crowded area. is it going to prevent it from ever happening again, no, but it is going to cut down on the damage that can be inflicted for sure.

it is just fucking mind boggling how you guys have such a hard on for your right or your childrens rights to own a fucking arsenal of assault weapons but dont give 2 shits about the rights of kids to go to school without being gunned down.

  1. Naming calling does nothing and no one is going to confiscate all the guns. Even if you could it is not going to happen for years. One armed guard with a side arm. Not El Salvador. You are passionate but not realistic. So go ahead and call people names and spout your useless diatribe. Same as you always do. Your solution more kids die in the near future. Keep laughing.

Fast forward to your gun toting utopia. Is an armed guard going to stop a shooting, or will they just become the first victim now? Pretty simple answer.

Use your head for something other than a hat rack.
