Gas prices

Saudi billionaire businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal told me we will not see $100-a-barrel oil again. The plunge in oil prices has been one of the biggest stories of the year. And while cheap gasoline is good for consumers, the negative impact of a 50% decline in oil has been wide and deep, especially for major oil producers such as Saudi Arabia and Russia. Even oil-producing Texas has felt a hit. The astute investor and prince of the Saudi royal family spoke to me exclusively last week as prices spiraled below $50 a barrel. He also predicted the move would dampen what has been one of the big U.S. growth stories: the shale revolution. In fact, in the last two weeks, several major rig operators said they had received early cancellation notices for rig contracts. Companies apparently would rather pay to cancel rig agreements than keep drilling at these prices. His royal highness, who has been critical of Saudi Arabia's policies that have allowed prices to fall, called the theory of a plan to hurt Russian President Putin with cheap oil "baloney" and said the sharp sell-off has put the Saudis "in bed" with the Russians. The interview has been edited for clarity and length.

this is as far as you have to look for the reason gas in under 2 bucks a gal

Its like when Wal Mart comes in and puts all the mom and pop stores out of business

Except its on the world stage and Opec knows what they are doing

Republicans have zilch to do with gas price decreases....Saudi Arabia had their arm twisted to penalize Putin for not playing nice.

The boomerang affect is adversely affecting developing countries that rely on oil revenue, and shale oil development in this country.

Do some serious internet research between your imaginary shows, there is much, much, more going on in the world than the claptrap news we are fed.

This... And there's even more to it of course.

Seeing gas below $3 in LA is a trip. I haven't lived here that long but people who have are making a pretty big deal out of it here. I think gas here is typically about a $1/gallon more on average than the avg price countrywide.
Some people in my industry are predicting oil will bottom out at $30/barrel. I personally think it will bottom right at or just below $40 and hover between there and $45 for a few months before Opec meets again in June. That probably means you can all enjoy the low gas prices for another 6 months. Meanwhile, we just let go of all the contractors in our office and are cutting holiday pay for employees. One of our clients (he works for an independent O&G co.) told me they just let go of more than 70% of their employees and contractors in the past week. Yikes.

$2.11 here............

$2.11 here............

And it isn't exactly cheap to live out where I do, the DC area. I'm loving the gas decreases, a little extra money in the bank. I just booked a 4 day outing in Vegas staying in Paris hotel, I haven't been out there since 2011.

Cheers,

$2.09

In DC it keeps going down. I think it's funny though how I saw $2.09 today driving home from work today and some places are still trying to get $2.39 or $2.49 a gallon. Pays to look I guess.

Today in Alexandria, filled up both cars CHEAP.....

I will tell you what sucks though. Do you see any of the airlines lowering fare prices, NOPE. Watch them around Q1 I bet they report some decent profits. Might have to buy some shares of Jetblue. IMO, Southwest and the others are overpriced right now.

I just bought gas for .99 yesterday. I always get gas for 1.00 cheaper than it says.(long story but every month I buy 2k in gift cards which gives me 4 fill ups with 1.00 off each gallon. Plus I get 6% back on my credit card for grocery purchase. Put the gift cards on an Amex card and then use it) LOL Sounds like a lot of work but it's none at all.
