Great job JR....I had a guy work with me a few years ago that bowled 3 and told me he got a ring for it with everything engraved on it from PBA?? do they give the rings or you buy them? You sound like 1 hell of an athlete....where did you play hoops at? Again great job....never knew about the changes in the lanes with how they set up the oil until working with that guy...Alot harder than it looks!!

Ever get a Hole in one?? I'm a 13 handicap and haven't been closer than 3 feet.

I paid for the upgraded ring last time, which was about $500 7 years ago, funny thing was that year I did 2/20/03 and 3/20/03, a month apart and I had them put a diamond #2 in signifying I did it twice. I would never wear the thing but it sits on my trophy case. The options this year are a plaque or another ring, it is basically free (silver) unless you want to upgrade to 10k or 14k gold which is 500 or 800, which I wont do, not worth that imo, I would rather put that on a football game this weekend. I will take the silver ring though.

Regarding hoops, I played at NAIA level at Point Park College, which is now Point Park University located here in Pittsburgh. Started all four years, but battled ankle problems the whole way through, missed 6 games freshman year 8 games junior year and 12 games senior year with the same ankle. Should have got surgery, but just keep going for therapy, shit I probably had 6-8 pairs of crutches. I dont play anymore at 38 years old, afraid to get hurt, although I had a guy challenge this past summer to a game of one on one and I beat him 10-1, so I know I can score on anyone still fast enough that dont feel too many rec players would ever stop me but I wouldn't play the dog defense that I use to anymore, not in that kind of shape LOL.

With golf, I finished last year at an 11 handicap, don't play as much anymore and was a single digit coming out college. Weekend warrior. Funny story, never had a hole one, however one day we were playing in some cold temps on a par 3 that was 220 yards very windy, I only carry a driver no other woods but a driving iron, with that said I choked down on my driver and hooked the first one into the parking lot, said to my dad throw me another fucking ball, he did, put it on the tee no practice swing and sure enough I put it into the hole for what would have been a hole in one, NET 3. We had 16 of us that day, and the group behind us was one of ours and they were in tears. That cost me $20 per player and closest to the pin or about $480 that day, basitd.....

Born and raised here, currently live about 15 minutes outside the city, so like to think I know the city better than most, especially traveling all around it for hoops and with college right in the city. Shoot me an email to my generic email account on MSN that I set up for the contests I run for most here at MJ's, it is jr112007@..... Let me know when you do right here because I never check that account. Hopefully I can give you some advice where to stay, eat and drink.

Congrats on the 300 jr. The statement you made about throwing 12 perfect shots with "a little luck" couldn't be more true. Its obvious that you can play, and I know you've been rapped with this a time or two.

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NSOTzi67jYQ?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NSOTzi67jYQ?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

There's no worse break in bowling than the stone 8. I bet Randy still has flashbacks of that shot. Then ole Ernie rubs it in to top it off.

Bowling can go both ways with your final series at the end of the night. Some nights you think you threw it great and shoot 580. Other nights you spray it and catch some breaks and leave with a 680.

First before I get to this, to Dunclock, young 30 athlete, I guess you missed the part of being 38, and I feel 88. My body is broken down, still try to power lift 5-6 days a week, but I ache when I get up trust me. I hit a golf ball like I should be on the senior tour, controlled accurate but not the longest hitter never was never will be.

Second, PA Sprint, I have had 4 299's, 2 10 pins 1 4 pin and yes 1 8 pin. Nothing you can do about it. 2 weeks ago I left 13 10 pins, 2 8 pins, and 1 9 pin, wtf you going to do? Tough to really make moves from that when you are drilling the pocket other then up and back or switch balls, had the line just couldn't carry. Breaks of the game, although on that given night I almost went nutsssss. And I am sure glad it wasn't me bowling that prick Ernie, not sure if I could have contained myself....

Its all about your entry angle... but I know you already know that. I either bump a half board or switch the rock, whatever works.
I've had 2 300's and a 298 (4,9 split). One 800 in my lifetime. Years ago when I bowled 3 nights a week I carried averages in the 210's. Now I'm a one night a week bowler and am around the mid 200's.
Do you ever go to nationals at Reno? Been there twice, stayed at the Eldorado, had a blast!

It is all angle, but when you are in the pocket its tough for me to move left and right, get in trouble when I do that. I move up and back, and perhaps change my hand position almost go to a full roller.

Never been to Nationals although Nole tries to get me there every year, one year I am going to make it and will try to coordinate with some of you so we are there the same week. I want a shot at the MJ bowling award and it appears Nole might be the man to beat, he doesnt want any of this....

Him and I used to bet $10 per game and total against one another, my Wednesday night league scores versus his Thursday night league scores, get print out and scan/send to the other the following morning. Mind he is in Tennessee and me here in Pittsburgh. I believe he beat me that year for a few $$, I average I think 218 and he was in the low 220's.

Go every year to Nationals regardless of where its held. No one seems to want it anymore so Reno has it 3 of the next 4 years.
Baton Rouge in 2012--look out NOLA, here we come...:00hour
Been to Reno for every Nationals they have held since the stadium got built in '95--what is it, 6 now? Not much to do in Reno but gamble--wished our group went later in the year so we could golf but we go the last week of March. If my wife goes we stay up in Tahoe, otherwise we stay at the Eldorado, too--nice just having to cross the street to the stadium to bowl and with the shuttle to/from the airport no need for a car---taking a cab to wherever the 40 frame game is is easy enough.
