for my stepdaughter and her boyfriend. They don't have passports and I want to keep it at around $1000.

Any ideas?

Has to be a leave on Friday and return on Sunday too, because of work commitments.

They aren't big party people so Vegas and New Orleans is not really good. I guess Vegas works but airfare alone is $950. I'm not going for $2000+ either.

Do you need a passport for Mexico and/or some of the islands?

I've seen young couples each time we've gone to disney. You could find a condo near the parks on ebay or craigslist and entry into the parks. Sometimes allegiant or other airlines have cheap flights to Orlando.

If that isn't their thing but don't want to party they could go down to Key West. Relaxing, casual and fairly affordable.

Lucky kids. Good for you.

A trip for 3-4 people(assuming you and a significant other go with) on 1k is a pretty tough thing to organize. That rules out most airfare. Best option is driving somewhere nearby that is worth seeing, maybe nature or some attraction. Even if only those two go, plane tickets immediately double your budget.

If you are close to Yellowstone Park, that would be a good trip, cheap too and they will never forget it. This is assuming that they have never been. The Tetons are just south of there as well.

I'm not going. That's the last thing they want. :mj07:

As I look around, airfares have gotten so damn high. I used to be able to fly RT to Vegas for around $200, now it's more than double that. Crazy!

I might have to up the ante.

Yeah, I told my wife, why not just give her the cash. Your idea is even more practical. A trip is gone in a weekend, the gas they remember and use for a long time.

Gotta disagree. The trip would be remembered and talked about with a possible return trip.

Gas card would be something forgotten 3 days later. Oh yeah I have a gas card.
