Best comic book movie since BATMAN IMO. I loved it and Chioma loved it, too (for those of you considering taking your wife or gf). I have to be honest that I have been really disappointed by just about everything that has come out in the action genre this year and last with the exception of Minority Report (Episode II was pretty entertaining, too). HULK is much heavier than the typical comic book or action movie but I think it was handled beautifully. Acting is great, editing is out of this world and just the story in general was really good all the way through.

HULK wore me down. I didn't read the comic book at all but was a fan of the show with Bill Bixby. I was kinda pissed that they made Bruce Banner the HULK and David Banner his father since David was the HULK in the show. The effects, directing, etc were good and Comic fans as yourself will probably love it, but a fan of the show as myself will probably hate it.

I liked the show but I knew beforehand from internet gossip that HULK was going to follow the comic rather than the TV show so I was not disappointed in that sense.

No, I did not recommend BRUCE ALMIGHTY. I know I have recommended a few films on this site like SIGNS and MEMENTO as well as a couple of scripts like PAYCHECK, PANIC ROOM and LUCKY YOU, but never BRUCE ALMIGHTY.

My son and I went to see the movie and I didn't like it at all. It was 2 1/2 hours long and it just never seemed to end. The effects were cool but I just couldn't get into it. My son really wanted to see it, he is only 3 1/2 so I didn't think he would like it anyway just because if it isn't a cartoon or Pixar movie it doesn't hold his attention for to long.

Side note wasn't the hulk's dad, I can't for the life of me remember his name, scary looking. I haven't seen him look so bad ever. He played a good role.

Sorry I would wait until it is on cable.

You are dead wrong, timbo. Obviously you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed if you're making a statement like that. I loved it, Chioma loved it and about half the audience that saw it when I was there applauded at the end, so I would assume they liked it, too. I figured it'd be a split reaction because it's a lot heavier than your average comic book film, so I am not surprised to get some people with opposing opinions in this thread.

Don't go in expecting mindless fun. You have to pay attention and have at least moderate intelligence to appreciate this film. A lot of kids may have a hard time following it as well. Still, for teens and adults I maintain that it is a great film.

that was funny. no one has given Nick this hard a time since beantownjim.

I honestly have not been in a theatre in the last 10 years where the audience applauded at the end.

I think Nick was thinking when he was at the SAG awards.

Army

I remember one time when I was in a plane circling NY trying to land at LaGuardia . There was a severe ice storm and when I looked out it was blinding snow and ice all over the wings of the plane. Probably about 200 people on board and the crew.

It was a late flight that never should have left Atlanta.
It was also lightning and striking so close to us it seemed we were doomed. And something was wrong with the lights and the emergency generator was flicking them on and off.

The pilot came on and announced the airport was closed and no runways were clear. He said we were going to try to run the fuel level down by circling awhile before we tried to land. That made me feel real good. There would be emergency equipment on the ground. Get in the ready position he said and everything will be OK. Yea right.

As the plane finnally landed we went sideways for a time, then he turned it and we skidded left a long time. It finally came to a stop right before the end of the runway where the water is.

When it was safe and we were stopped only half the plane applauded. I was a half plane clapper.

That situation made me clap. I dont think a movie in a theater can make me applaud to the heavens for nothing.

Or maybe it was the half that wanted to go home, and had to sit through it while their partner watched it..........

Gee.......not too big of a slap in the puss to anyone with a descending view........

How the fuk did you ever get so full of yourself?

I'll grant you that timbo's reply was out of bounds, but you just added to the idiocy of your own thread with your retort. All matters of taste are subject to pro and con feedback. Music, literature, and even movies. There is no right or wrong.......only sides. You guys are on opposite sides. Nothing more, nothing less, until the name calling starts in.

Shit, I'll bet there are a few people out there who even panned "My Bodyguard" with Chris Makepeace!

Actually I did clap in at a movie I was dragged to see Deep Blue or something like that with LL Cool J fighting a shark. I clapped at the end thanking god it was finally over.

I have only been out in L.A. since '95 but I think clapping is an L.A. thing. Not saying that clapping the end of a movie guarantees greatness because movies like VARSITY BLUES and ARMAGEDDON have been clapped at showings I've been to, but it does indicate that the people who are clapping like the movie. I just found it asinine for someone to suggest that I was only posting about my enthusiasm for HULK because I had an alterior motive. I thought it was a great movie. I don't see too many studio pictures that I think are great. That is the only reason I posted what I posted.

yyz,

You already know that I think your opinions lack credibility in a number of areas. I never degraded anyone's viewpoint on their enjoyment of the film, and in fact I said I expected a very split reaction. I did say that I felt you needed a higher level of intelligence to enjoy a film like this compared to something like SPIDER-MAN. I wasn't calling people who disliked HULK unintelligent. There is a clear difference in those two statements.

As far as you calling me, "full of myself," I plead guilty as charged to that when it comes to movies. I am a writer and I left a damn high paying and respected job to start at the bottom of the entertainment industry reading scripts, running for coffee, getting lunches, etc. because working in film is what I want to do for a living. Don't you think someone who makes those sacrifices in the pursuit of a career in movies is going to feel they know more about them than the average j-brone who merely plunks down $9.75 (to answer anywaves' question) every Friday night?

You are damn right that art is subjective and that people are going to have many different viewpoints on films but there is still such a thing as good and bad taste.
