Trust me Scott, every other movie I see now people start clapping at the end. That is a huge pet peeve of mine and never understand why people do it.

I remember one time when I was in a plane circling NY trying to land at LaGuardia . There was a severe ice storm and when I looked out it was blinding snow and ice all over the wings of the plane. Probably about 200 people on board and the crew.
It was a late flight that never should have left Atlanta.
It was also lightning and striking so close to us it seemed we were doomed. And something was wrong with the lights and the emergency generator was flicking them on and off.
The pilot came on and announced the airport was closed and no runways were clear. He said we were going to try to run the fuel level down by circling awhile before we tried to land. That made me feel real good. There would be emergency equipment on the ground. Get in the ready position he said and everything will be OK. Yea right.
As the plane finnally landed we went sideways for a time, then he turned it and we skidded left a long time. It finally came to a stop right before the end of the runway where the water is.
When it was safe and we were stopped only half the plane applauded. I was a half plane clapper.
That situation made me clap. I dont think a movie in a theater can make me applaud to the heavens for nothing.
