True Romance is a great film; Heathers is another that is worth multiple viewings.
And what happened to Christian Slater? Made a couple of fantastic films, then all but disappeared....

Heathers is great! I was so in love with Winona Ryder when I was a kid. I think Slater disappeared about the time he was high as fuck on MNF talking about how they were sitting in God's seat. I can't find a video of it, if anyone else can, please post it. I remember :mj07: .

.....................................................................

loved this movie. Seen it many times

another movie Gary Oldman was in was The Professional

Great movie about hit men and when Oldman yells
Everyone ! it sends chills

I love that movie. Everyone in it is spot on, and it introduced me to my favorite actress. I have loved Natalie since that first second she showed up onscreen in The Professional. Before anyone accuses me of being a pedophile, I am only a couple years older than her. Oldman is fucking classic in that flick. I think it's his best role.

By the way, if any of you haven't seen True Romance, do yourselves s favor and watch it. It was written by Tarantino and directed by the recently deceased Tony Scott. Fucking great flick!

Actors in True Romance:

Christian Slater
Christopher Walken
Dennis Hopper (hilarious speech about Sicilians)
Patricia Arquette
Brad Pitt (absolutely hysterical role as a stoner before he was BRAD PITT)
James Gandolfini
Val Kilmer
Gary Oldman (hilarious and unrecognizable)
Samuel L. Jackson

4.5 outta 5 :0074

"the bunker"
theres a movie on cable right now...it`s called "a lonely place to die"....it stars melissa george and some less notable u.k. actors....

the first half has a sort of "deliverance' feel to it taking place with a mountain climbing group in the scottish highlands.....they stumble upon a kidnapped little girl( being held by kidnappers in a sort of burial chamber)...she happens to be the daughter of a balkan (i think) master criminal....a really bad dude(as you find out toward the end)...the kidnappers are chasing the climbers(who are trying to save the little girl) and the romanian criminal`s henchmen are chasing the kidnappers....

.then it shifts over to more of a "tightrope(eastwood)" sort of scenario in which the climbers(or what`s left of them) try and escape the kidnappers(and they are brutal s.o.b`s) during some sort of eerie/odd scottish festival....excellent atmosphere...

it `s brutal..has great cinematography...and the acting is actually pretty good....pay attention because the dialogue is also pretty clever....

a really good, edge of your seat thriller....i was really surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it........ great escapist entertainment...not for the sqeamish...

Some of you guys wouldn't know a good movie if it sat on your face.

Personally, I always know a good face-sitting movie when I see it.

I keep passing over killer Joe. Last night I went with another 1.00 Tarantino ppv......4 Rooms

I watched this about 10 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. The 3rd story was my fav. This time I fell into a beer-induced slumber 15 minutes in. Will give it another go this weekend.

True romance rocks. Saw it once when it was relatively new. I recall complaining to my roommate for bringing home a chick flick....lol

True Romance is my favorite movie. Glad to hear others like it a lot too.

I just saw a good movie that I'll probably get ripped for liking: Take This Waltz. Definitely not for a lot of people, but the movie has a good take on relationships.

I recall that Baton rouge head shops were selling a ton of honey bear bongs like Pitt used in true romance. I bought one myself. Talk about inefficient.....

We made ours ourselves. We would actually smoke through honey in it. You had to heat the honey in the microwave to get it fluid enough for the smoke to pass through. It did make for some tasty rips.

I watched the movie Hermano yesterday. I didn't know much about it before watching it other than it was about two soccer-playing brothers trying to make it out of a poor neighborhood in Caracas, Venezuela.

I ended up really enjoying it. It has a ton of heart and will take you on an emotional roller coaster. If you like sports movies, you will enjoy it. If you like movies with a criminal element, you will enjoy it. If you can't stand soccer or don't like foreign films, then don't bother, of course. I give it a B+.

What are you all watching tonight?

What are you all watching tonight?

Was thinking about going out with some friends tonight, but frankly my wife and I agreed it's probably not the best night to be out with all of the drunks on the roads and the crowds in the bars. We got a nice bottle of champagne we're going to toast 2013 to.

Just downloaded a few titles in here:

Kill the Irishman
The Contender (someone said Gary Oldman and I saw this one years ago and don't remember anything about it except I thought it was good)
Hermanos (brothers)

Which one you think boys? What are you guys watching tonight? I sure as hell am not going to watch that silly Ryan Seacrest tonight..

I like Hermano, but it definitely an emotional roller coaster. I don't know if I would ring the new year in with it. I haven't seen the other two so I can't comment about them. If you are in the mood for getting your emotions tumbled around though, definitely go with Hermano.

Wait, did you download Hermano or Hermanos. The one I recommended is singular, brother, not brothers.

I've never been about to pull the trigger on that one even though everybody says it's good. Maybe one of these days.

I liked it a lot. Saw it quite awhile ago, but I remember thinking it was really good.
