I have had it twice on my big toes.

it really hurts

home remedy . drink a shot of white apple vinegar everyday for a month and you will never
have it again. It breaks down the acid.

I think this may be punishment for your wayward political beliefs.

Hey hedge, I feel your pain. I have had about 10 flare-ups of gout and you are right. The pain is the worst thing I have ever had.

I have not had a flare-up for about 2 years. What I did was cut way back on red meat and drank cherry juice. Seems to work.

Hope you get over this. It is some bad shit.

Until you get it you have no idea of the pain, worst pain of my life yesterday morning...

I am heading to a health store at lunch for cherry extract I read about and start taking asap.

I am 85% now but I can't have a flare up again :scared

Make sure during flare ups you abstain from toe-banging your gf.

Or just don't fill her up 100%.

IF you do , then simply let some of the air out so shes not fully inflated. Otherwise, you might risk a further injury to the flare up. If the plastic isn't fully taut then it will be easier on your joints, assuming you simply cannot forego the toe banging. Safe before sorry.

The colcrys probably worked. I'm telling you have it handy. It really works. With the bad attacks, like killer bees stinging your toe, it takes a good day or so.

PS, I don't know what your insurance is like, but there is a good coupon or two for it on internetdrugcoupons.com

One is a free 7 pill fill, the other is a $15 co-pay where they foot up to $75.

Hedge, I get gout and it is very painful. A friend turned me on to black cherry juice concentrate. Drink a few ounces of this everyday or when gout acts up. Seems to help me.

nice name

I didn't know colcrys was for the pain. I don't take it to prevent it, but take it when it attacks. When I do it usually goes away in a day or so. I didn't consider it as pain relief, rather it nipped it in the bud and it ceased.

The Allopurinol is good to take every night to help prevent it. The doc wrote it for 100 mg, but changed it to 300 mg and it has come only once after that.

Thanks Lucy :0074

np! I first got it on my right big toe and like you I waited to go to the doc. It lingered for a good 3 weeks. The two other episodes I had I was able to take the colcrys and it was gone in a day or two tops.

You will be up a river if it starts on a Friday night and you can't get in touch with the doc to get a script.

you can actually take control of those flare ups by taking a close look of your diet, most specifically follow a low purine diet. totally is worth it.

I haven't had a flare up in a while, I have taken a new medicine called uloric since September and its worked wonders and I am on a low purine diet like you said...breakouts really suck and are painful

I have heard as well that it's diet and booze you need to have under control. My father gets it frequently. He doesn't drink much, but his diet isn't great for his age. Here are what he says are the main two offenders: red meat and seafood.

On another note, I thought I had it a few years ago. My foot (only one) swelled up to the size of a softball. I went to see a podiatrist and he said I had a bone fracture in my foot, I had been running 5 miles a day and occasionally doing cross-fit. Hurt like hell, had to wear one of those boots for a while but it healed up quickly.
