What I would do, is a get a heart monitor of some fashion and do a lot of interval work. Meaning, figure out your targeted rate and try to achieve this throughout your workouts and you will burn fat easily. Superset your exercises, and or shock your body parts. One day do reps until fatigue and next sets of 5 but keep moving. You have to do at least 20-30 min of cardio each workout, again one lap walking one lap jogging one lap sprinting and so on, slow fast slow fast.

Lastly, drink more water, and portion control, nothing heavy later in day. Cut soda and alcohol too.

Totally second the power of interval training, but I was a runner.

This is me today at 262 lbs. How much does it look like I need to lose?

Yeah that is one bad outfit. So you are broad chested. Not as much as the typical 262 pounder. There are always exceptions. Just get to work one day at a time.

Go burn a copy of p90x from one of your buddies and crank through it for the 3 months.

I'm not trying to be a mean prick when I say this either but...
Hit the cardio and ease of the straight weightlifting routine and lying to yourself that "it's all muscle underneath"

Those numbers you got from your doc should be a massive wake up call to you to change your lifestyle. Based on those numbers, clearly what you have been doing up to this point has not been working for you.

Again, not trying to be a mean grinch when I say that (you're man enough to raise the topic yourself and open up about it and get respect for that) but there really isn't a warm fuzzy way to say it.

I got dizzy imagining that routine.

"You are what you eat". Learned that quote in the fourth grade (1976).

I ain't no doctor but can do a little bit of math. If your body requires a thousand calories a day to maintain its weight, just reduce your caloric intake to 900 or so. The weight will come off through a sensible diet. The exercise part is a bonus.

Could u imagine if Mully in that 3 pt tape drop another 100 lbs :mj07: He wouldn't be able to have launched ten of those shots. Might not even been able to pick up the basketball. I think the insurance companies created those BMI statistics. Good gauge on how much a person pays. Good gauge for them that is.

You really are giving Mully some bad advice in this thread. This guy was 6'3" 175, yet somehow he had the strength to make a few threes.

Mully, you know what you need to do, just do it. :0074

Thats right he was and Michael Jordan beat him up in practice. Mully isn't an athlete and not one of the NBA stars stay at their playing weight once they retire.
Mully needs to be realistic and so do you. I promise you that LeBron and Dwayne and all those other guys won't look like that in twenty years when they are in their forties.Take a look at Oliver Miller or Greg Ostertag and see how they are doing.

Don't understand your logic here. Some athletes let themselves go, so Mully should too? Just because you get older is no reason not to stay fit. You can be fit from cradle to the grave if you want to. Sure, most of us let ourselves go at times, but the goal should be to avoid it as much as possible. Stay active and eat well and the rest takes care of itself.

All I am saying is it isn't realistic to try to emulate Steve Kerr at his playing weight. Also, some people put more into their fitness than others. Personally, I couldn't care less about anyone else's physique other than my own. I don't emulate Tiger's swing, I don't emulate Will Clark's sweet swing, and I certainly don't do the things that would be required to get into that kind of shape. I like cheeseburgers and pizza and I am not going to eat salad and run eight miles a day so I can meet some standard.

There are people that like to run, work out, and all that stuff. More power to them. There are also people that think if you aren't skin and bones you are out of shape.

I think when we are talking about people like myself and Mully for that matter, we have to be realistic as to what goals we set for ourselves. As I previously stated, when I was around 188, I hated it. I felt too thin. Just sayin.

I totally respect anyone with the mindset to do what you are saying and get to that kind of shape but I like food that tastes good. Whole milk tastes good, bacon tastes good.

At the bar
Blood Pressure 140/100

Total Cholerstral 265

HDL 43

LDL 171

And to top it off, I felt like Chevy Chase in Fletch. "Using the whole fist there doc? " I was about ready to sing Moon River...:mj07:

Seriously though, I'll be 41 in a month and a half. Are these number that bad?? He put me on propranolol . :scared

Those numbers aren't bad compared to mine Mully. I went to the doctor two weeks ago.

I'm 42, 5'11, 190 lbs and in pretty good shape.
Blood Pressure was 115 over 65 and my cholesterol was HDL 100 and my triglycerides were 449. I've had high cholesterol for about 6 years now and its caused me to have a fatty liver. Trust me, its not from drinking as I don't drink very often. I'm currently taking Trilipix. I feel like shit everyday and its not getting any better. Genetics suck!!!

Bear Down Dice!!!!

We are going to rock the Super Bowl this year!!!!

"You're the pride and joy of Illinois"

I have to call Purple so we can get our fantasy league started earlier this year. You should join. We will have to have two leagues though if you are going to go after Marshall and Jeffrey though. Or Cutler, Forte or Bush for that matter. Come to think about it, stay the hell out of our league man!!!!!

Most of those athletes don't make a concious choice to "let themselves go" when they retire.

It's a habit/lifestyle change for them that they never fully adjust to.

In their prime, playing days.. they are practicing, playing, working out.. etc etc and it is the normal routine for them.. and they consume a tremendous amount of calories each day to just have enough gas in the tank to make it through the week.

Once they retire and stop the heavy activity day in and day out, they tend to forget about changing their diet.. or they do change the diet and pare down the calories - but it usually isn't reduced enough.
Hence, they pack on a few pounds.

The pieces are in place(minus the oline)...to make a run at it this year....ive never heard/seen the Bears defense this pumped up about a season because of the optimism of the O and that they will actually get a decent look during camp

easy bet of the season.... Bears over 8.5 wins....ill be plopping down on this bet in august in vegas

7-3 last year on a 5 game win streak before cutler and ultimately forte injury..... ....this line makes no sense to me....

going to bears-cowboys monday nighter?......
