Golf cheating ladder:

1. Improving your lie
2. Gimmes
3. Mulligans
4. Not applying rules correctly (IE: out of bounds, water hazards, etc)
5. Shaving strokes

If the average golfer played by the rules he couldn't break 100, PERIOD.

I would say 90% or higher couldn't.

Fuk a bunch of gimmes. Who started that shit? Probably some phucker who couldn't putt!

You put the ball in the phucking hole, PERIOD. There are no phucking gimmes. I have missed putts as short as 18 inches.

Gimmes

Bunch of old geezers slapping 3 footers back to each other to keep their scores down. :142smilie

if i play you for money and the deal is "no touching the ball" you can be assured that i won't touch it.

if you and i are playing for a fun leasure round and my ball lands in a divot, i'm rolling it out of there, plain and simple. it's frustrating enough as it is so **** it.

HELL
I have gotten into many arguements, borderline brawls almost. In my mind, there is no such things as gimmes when we are playing for cash, I don't fu(king care if it's a $5 match. As for improving you lie, an absolute no no. You hit there you play it there. I still have to go to work the next day and nothing changes whether I shoot 78-90, and that is my range. However, in a scramble anything goes, and have bent the rules here once or twice especially when in one where you have to get a certain number of drives in.

On the course!
Jack, Agent pretty much has this covered.

I don't "cheat" like in, "I got a 7 this hole......"

and the other guys say:

"Hey......who's that fat bastard foolin? I got him for a 10!"

But, almost 100% of recreational golfers play the so called, "winter rules". My buddies like to say, "fluff it up a little". (Watch it, wise asses! :SIB ) In the annual tournament up here each year, without fail, guys will shoot 7-12 strokes over their "handicap" over the 36 hole event! Why? Because they can't move the ball, and they must sink their putts!

It makes a HUGE difference!

Also, as Chad said. I could retire if I could bet guys they couldn't golf within 10 stroke of their handicap. Not the best golfers, but your run-of-the-mill guy, who hits a ball in the woods, and can't find it, so he "just drops one", and takes a stroke.

Oh, really? I don't think so, stud.

Ball almost cleared the lake, so I'll drop on the edge at the other end.

You will? Not today, sir.

It goes on, and on.......and I'm not even CLOSE to knowing all the rules!

Still, in league, when I still played, guys cheated all of the time! Do they really think guys playing with them can't count THEIR strokes, as well? :mj07:

I've seen balls "splash", and the guy finds it right on the edge of the pond.

I've seen guys, most guys, give THEMSELVES putts!

I had one guy, in a close match, and his ball was on the green in my line. He was about 6 feet from the hole, I was about 9. When he went to mark his ball, he was really fumbling around with the marker and ball.....offsetting it a bit, to make sure it was not right on my line, I presumed. He finally got the mark set right, and I said, "That's good", and the fuker picked up his marker, and started walking off!

I said, "Whoa!" he says, "You said 'good'!"

Golfers.......great guys. It's suck a joke when people talk about what sportsman golfers are because "they keep their own score"!

How many guys miss a "gimmie" putt, and then pull it back quick before it stops rolling, and putt it again? DON'T LIE, YOU FUGGERS!!!!!!

Then, the "made putt" goes on the card.

"Ahhh, that was a gimmie. I wasn't really trying!"

You ever do that...........Bowling? Toss a gutter trying for a ten pin, and say, "I never miss that!" And you put down a spare???? NO ONE does that! Do you burry one in the pocket, and leave a solid 9 pin, and hit the re-set? "Gimmie a strike on that.....I was robbed!" No....You don't.

Holy Christ, we should all be shot!

Hell I went out yestrday to get in some practice and a midday hangover with a few of the boys and I threw a friggin ball out of the sand. Missed it the first time second time rolled right back down at me.....................seemed to me to be the next logical choice was to lob the little fuhker in the direction of the actual hole I was playing. Did I mention it was a neighboring fairway trap. I counted all the strokes but I still threw the son of a bitch. Course there was no money involved and it was the 17th hole and I only brought an eighteen pack so I was ready to call it quits. One ball left, one hole left. one beer left. lets move this thing along huh?
Hell I don't even know what a friggin scramble is but as long as it doesnt't involve anything with eggs I am good. I am lactose intolerant.

I would say 90% or higher couldn't.

I would agree Chad if all the above were intent to pad handicap of player when handicap is pertinent--however most pad handicap the opposite way (higher than reality).

I would not consider most of above cheating --where you have all players agree on alterations.

Cheating is defined as -deception for profit to yourself .

There is no deception if all agee.

IMO Cheating would knowingly giving wrong score--claiming one found their ball when they know it isn't theirs-dropping one-and such things.

I play game however those I am playing with want to play--some mulligan off 1st tee--some play it up--some give in the leather--and some play strictly by the rulles. I certainly don't consider myself a cheater because I try to be cordial with fellow players. Granted I could play by rules even though they don't but would not be worth risk of maybe giving them impression I thought lesser of them because they didn't.
