Where it is real F ing COLD
The Dog was just being Loyal, it's a shame what happened to it.

Yep my dog woulda done the same thing I hope. That video sucked, couldn't imagine watching my dog get shot, that guy shoulda minded his own business and walked away. Just go about your business, especially don't be an asshole to the cops.

I don't get why the cops even walked up to him? He was holding his camera in an annoying way?
Is that illegal?

If it was such a sensitive operation they should have secured a perimeter.

I am sure the dog owner is an idiot, but that is NOT a crime. Furthermore there had to be yet more options than shoot the dog. Cops needn't always default to the most antagonistic response in their toolkit just because it is technical allowed by police regulations.

Why on Earth did they walk up to the man? He was committing no crime, why did they handcuff him?

I just don't get this.

Sad sad. The takeaway of everyone in that community, right or wrong, who witnessed that, especially young people, is that cops are violent, cops are racist etc. It's just terrible police strategy long term.

You are usually one of the few voices of reason around here, but I have to disagree here. There is an obvious standoff situation with what looks like people crouching behind cars, and then you have this idiot walking right up behind the cop cars with his camera and dog. He exchanges words with the officers and is obviously being distraction when the cops absolutely do not need another. Being an idiot may not be a crime, but it can obviously get your dog shot. Guess I just don't understand why a lot of people(not necessarily you fek) choose to focus on step 4 or 5 of an incident and excuse steps 1-3.

I'm not going to lie, law enforcement policy is one of the few issues I swing wildly back and forth on. I can't get my head around what the best way of doing things is. I've definitely sided on the "cops are assholes" side of things more recently, despite having had no negative interactions with them in my life. But I've been on the other side too.

I hope my exasperation that the event occurred at all was what came across in my comment, more so than me siding with that particular guy's behavior.

And I'm not even a dog person.

I understand what you mean, and I would agree that 90% of what is put out on the web makes cops look bad(understandable since some are). The very, and I mean very few things positive that are actually put out there get ignored though because that's not what sells. Look at the video dunclock posted about the officer that freed the dog. If that would have been another "cops are assholes" thread, the usuals would have been lined up to take shots. Instead you can hear crickets in there. I guess the erosion of personal responsibility in America is something I just cant accept. Working with teenagers for years, it is the one thing I have never, and will never, accept from either them or their parents. If parents, communities, cultures, cities, races, etc want to hold the police departments feet to the fire then go for it as they should be held accountable, but if you are not willing to hold "your" people to the same standard then you are nothing more than a hypocrite of the worst kind.

Like I said, respect you and your opinions Fek. Some things just get under my skin :toast:

So. Cal
wow

that was fucking horrible

sorry....but the cop in this case was a fucking asshole and I hope he gets fired or at least suspended for a while.......the dog was on a fucking leash, there's a stop sign right there.....tie the dog to the sign if you're so concerned about him.

don't these cops carry tasers??
couldn't they have used that on the dog???
and then after he shoots the dog he stops and lets the poor dog die a slow death writhing in pain on the street.

i'm usually a pro cop guy....but im a dog guy and that made me want to fuck that cop up...im just glad I wasn't there as I don't know what I would have done.

I am a dog person, but the guy trying to be a hardass and getting in the way caused his dog to be shot. It looked as if the cops simply asked him to get away from the scene, but he tried to be a bad a$$ and began yelling at the cops. The stupid f&ck should've just left the scene. Sucks that the dog was being loyal to his piece of $hit owner. I don't think the cop that shot the dog did anything wrong.
