Probably has happened to me countless time. I got f-cking tired of dealing with it and in the end that is exactly what they do. Many of you know my wife has stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma, and I could a write book on this BS. Not only do we have my insurance, but she also has disability/medicare because she has had cancer re-occur 3 times now with each time getting worse over the last 15 years. Mine is primary but nothing ever gets sent to diability/medicare. I have been paying the max into that thing for the last 10 years or so, and now when needed most they play these games between all parties.

We just lost our insurance with my wifes company. It ran us 900 dollars a month with a family 3400 before they paid 80% and we still had the co pays.

I had surgery five years ago to remove a kidney stone that wouldnt pass. $18 grand.

My wife was hospitalized for two days last year for testing . 8 grand .

I had all my blood work done, got a diabetes test that came out ok. And alot of other stuff done before we lost the coverage.

I am looking at the Health Accounts now

Health Insurance and gas prices . wtf

PS - Have to fight many of the claims as they reject them. Paperwork, doctors faxing, mailing crap . Its horrible.

I am in NO WAY affiliated with this site.

I deal with group coverage so if you are an employer PM me or post here.

Of course dealing with individuals happens as well and my firm has found that this is the best thing for individuals seeking health coverage for them and their families.

Tool around here for a little while and see if it's worth joining and if you and tour wife's doctors are In-network with the plans being offered.

Let me know how it goes.
Feel free to ask questions too. I've been in the industry for 7 years.

On the course!
Seriously, though..............I'm GLAD I have a job that covers me. So many of the clowns I work with just don't get that part of it!

They bitch about the fact that the co-pay on drugs goes up from $5 to $10 or $15 on some of them! They bitch because the employer is thinking about negotiating for us to pay a small percentage of our premiums. I should clip this thread, and post it at work.

what do people do? most people i know can't afford that.

They don't carry any insurance, which is fine and saves them plenty of money until (unless) something happens. Then they get the work done, can't pay the outrageous bill and proceed to one of my associates offices to file bankruptcy...which in turn drives up the damn medical costs that much more. It's a vicious cycle!

Personally, in my current situation (single with no dependents and only early 30's), I don't carry any insurance. Unless I have a car accident, the odds of major medical are in my favor. But that won't last forever.... I thought of taking a part time position teaching just for the insurance coverage.

Option A: Quit smoking
Option B: Move to Canada

:canada1

I still think a Healthcare Savings Account (HSA) might be a good option for you.

I'm in the same boat as Jack, albeit a little younger....

Option A: I did! Whooohoooo!
Option B: Fuk You! Too damn cold!

My agent told me the exact same thing about the HSA.... You may seriously want to look into that Jack.

Where it is real F ing COLD
I had to go into the emergency room a couple weeks ago in Milwaukee for an episode of gastritis/possible ulcer. I just got the bill because I have a $2000 deductable. $425 for physician. $450 lab and $38 fukin bucks for 2 shots of Maalox. Total of $913 and I didn't even have any diagnostics done such as an x - ray or ultra sound.

I work in the medical field and know many of the ways they over-charge, but 38 bucks for maalox. I am going to send them a letter to use K-Y before they fuk me in the ass.
