Is fighting actually a part of the game or not?

Do you score additional points for fighting? Do you increase your standings by winning a fight?

Yes, this is an extreme example. But it is exemplary of what is wrong with this sport.

The Detroit brawl was so far outside of what basketball is about.

Hockey fans can defend it all they want, but don't complain that hockey is a sub-prime sport. Fighting is the main reason.

Personally, I would like the fighting to be removed because I would like to see the sport grow. It's an absolutely awesome sport to watch.

i think what is even worse than the fighting is when the whistle blows and all of the sudden u see a guy slighly push another guy. He pushes backk. Another guy comes in an pushes. BaCK and forth with this silly meaningless pushing. This stuff seems like it happens after every play and takes about thirty seconds to a minute to finish up. Just tough to watch day in and day out.

Years back when lemuix and Gretzky were on the same team in the Canada cup, they played the Russians in a three game series. This was the most fascinating hockey i ever saw. The Russians were just as good and the skating had to be the highest level i ever saw. Not one inkling of a fight. Probably the greatest sporting event i ever saw. Once the leagues started back up i couldn't watch hockey again. Back to the pushing and fighting and watching guys who couldn't skate to save their lives trying to play.

I never had the desire to punch a man who is dressed from head to toe so a hockey puck traveling 100 miles an hour wouldn't hurt him. I understand the "reason" for the fights but really no one hardly ever gets hurt in them.

I agree. I routinely claim to hate hockey but I can't help but watch a couple Olympic games every four years. I can't figure out what the big difference is, but I actually like Olympic hockey.

Cause it iis like allstar teams with the best of the best playing each other. then u get back to the season and u have two stars on a team and 18 stiffs lol.

Kickserv, you really depressed the hell out of me with this pic. She looks old as hell here, which makes me very sad. I always think of her as that girl I had a huge crush on when I was a kid watching "Who's the Boss?" Seeing her looking quite cougarish in this pic reminds me that I'm getting older. :sadwave:
