On the course!
Well, I had to go into the basement, and hook up the old dog, as my 2 year old took a shit.

I think I got some bad mojo somewhere along the line, boys.

A few days ago, my computer started getting weird........

From "sleep mode", it could not be woke up. Not by key strokes.....mouse jiggle......nada. I had to shut her down, and re-start from the tower.

This worked for a few starts, and then that option went to hell. Freeze on "sleep", no re-start on tower.......move to killing power on power strip.

That did the trick, and I could now re-start from the tower again. That trick worked for a few short logins, and now........the options are all out! I simply cannot start my computer! It shows zero signs of life. It was as if whatever virus I had found, was playing chess with me........It "mated" me!

Have any of you heard of this????

my ex has gone through 3 in that time period, my wife has gone through 5, my son 3, my step daughter 2 in 3 years. christ! AND GUESS WHO BOUGHT THE DAMN THINGS??!!

i don't ley ANYBODY use mine, period! anytime i let somebody use my computer, something ALWAYS happens to it.

just go out and get a new one and don't let anybody fcuk with it.

the power supply thing sounds like the problem, eric.

Ironic,In the process of downgrading:mj07: My son gave me the ok to confascate his from upstairs since he has moved away:sadwave: Mine will crash if I put any leanth of video strain on it,This is the report I get

Hardware failure: replace failed component

Thank you for submitting an error report.

Problem description

The error was caused by an unrecoverable hardware error which forced the operating system to stop functioning.

Although we know the problem is caused by a hardware component, unfortunately the error report does not contain enough information to tell us the specific component. More than likely the problem is being caused by problems with one or more of the following computer components:

Random Access Memory (RAM)
System board
Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Power supply
Recommendations

If you have received this error more than once, it could indicate a serious problem with your computer. We recommend that you do the following:

Back up your files to avoid data loss in case of a complete hardware failure.
Contact the original manufacturer of your computer or your local computer repair shop. Either will have advanced hardware diagnostics to determine the specific component which is failing.

And don't forget to sledgehammer the fuk outta it b4 it goes to bulk trash:mj01: :mj13: ...................................................................................................:fit01:

I have a phone running off of that strip, though. It still works.

I'm ganna run it down to the "think tank" on Monday, and let them peek at it, I guess. Thanks for the input, guys.

Used to work at Atari. Had an Atati 800. Listed for $1000 and the dot matrix printer was around $700

yyz- You need to get a new computer.

Sounds like the power supply bit the dust, probably the #1 part on a computer to break. Turning your computer on and off all the time is the usual culprit. I almost never turn mine off.

I've been fortunate to have a brother who can work on mine from time to time. Had the same computer for over 10 years that he built, and he's upgraded it 3 times now to keep it current with the technology. Best thing has been my flat screen monitor. I love that!

yyz, my brother gets lots of customers who have taken their computers to some clown at a computer repair shop only to screw it up even more. Hope yours gets fixed. A power supply is easy to replace and not expensive.

Well, I did take it to the guy down the street today, and he did say it was the power supply thing-a-ma-bob. Since I was told from some guys at work that this part requires soldering, I didn't consider doing it myself. I'm now looking at $100-$120 for the fix.........

I always leave mine in "sleep" mode, and look what it got me after 30 months!
