Sports,
The removal of the principal is outrageous. If there was a rule in place about social media posts in place prior to he or she making the comment, than the firing may hold up. I hope she is union. I don't agree with the termination by any means, however certain positions in society do require individual discretion prior to action. I don't know any of the mitigating circumstances surrounding the termination. If you're telling me that a principal was terminated for the sole act of saying "that police officer didn't act like a good cop", or "I support better standards for police officers", without any prior history of incidence, than it's as stupid as it sounds.

I answered you about the death threats already. I'm sorry they happened. He can report them to authorities and they can be investigated. Do I think the resultant threats make his actions more acceptable? No, I don't. The other officer that treated the citizens with dignity and respect is not receiving any threats. It's unfortunate and also predictable. Again, it still has nothing to do with the issue that I'm discussing in this thread.

I feel the officer did not act as he should have. I believe he assaulted a teenage girl in a bikini and did it on film. I believe that I'd that was one of the resident adults doing that to that girl he'd be in jail. Police do not get to discharge their own justice without impunity. They are held to the same standards as the rest of society. I think it's very unfortunate that many want to excuse his actions and diminish an assault against a teenage girl that had every right to walk down the street running her mouth. If there were teens being disrespectful or loud, so what. She does not have to pay the price for others actions. Nowhere on the video did she commit a crime. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH AN ILLEGAL SEIZURE. The officer does not have the lethal right to detain a private citizen without cause. She was walking away, whether you agree or not, that's what us shown on the video. It's right there for all to see. We can all deny it and make reference to an "unruly mob" blah blah blah, but the facts still remain. If he's charged and he goes to court, none of what the other kids did will be considered evidence. He will be convicted and he should be. He doesn't get immunity because he used to be a cop. That's not stated anywhere in any law. Not only did he slam her to the ground, he returned to her, grabbed her hair and did it again. Then he forced his knees into here back and out all his weight on her, ignoring her cries that she couldn't breathe. Again, let's say a private resident or one of those boys present did that to her right in front of the cop, what do you think would have happened to them? What would your reaction be then?

Thank you for responding FDC I appreciate it.....

We're now into day 7 of this mess with people on both sides of the fence....We have a video, we have reports but still no one from "The Top" that has the balls to come forward and explain what happened and what should have happened that night and there lies the problem......We expect a cop to be perfect in a 7 min video yet we can't get a statement over 7 days to state if the office was or wasn't within his rights under law....Truly sad, and people wonder why there's so much hate......It's hard to have/receive respect when the guideline are so vague all around.....:0008

How would I handle it? I would find out the phone numbers and send someone from the police force over to their house and body slam their kids and burn their house down

As for the principal, I would strap Jeb Bush to Tampa and sink the whole state in to the ocean.

Not sure what any of that has to do with what happened on the video.

You love to pontificate when the topic is someone held down by the man but when someone asks you a legitimate question to which you can't think of a response that supports the little man, you respond with absurdities like the above.

What the hell does it matter what she's wearing? I don't care if she had on ski clothes or was naked, that part doesn't matter. She wasn't walking away. Her and her friends came up and mouthed off to the officer when they were told to leave the scene.

How can you bring up "let's say a private resident or one of the boys present did that to her right in front of the cop?" Are you being serious saying that? That's apples and oranges and if you don't understand that then a great number of the dumb ass things you say make sense now.

It all comes down to respect and the lack of respect we have for everything in this country. Which has been building for a long time.

About 40 years ago I got a job working for a company that had pinball machines. It was still my first week on the job and I was sent to replace a manager of a store in a black neighborhood.

The place filled up with teens and young 20's fast. I was the only white face in there. It was getting loud and things were clearly out of control.

Some kid broke open the coinbox in one of the machines. At this point it was wall to wall people.

I grabbed him and threw him against the door. Bad move. He started wailing on me. As did everyone else. I covered my head, in a rope a dope stance and made my way back to the cage. They gave a good pummeling. No one was trying to kill me they just got their licks in.

The manager of the bar next door came in. Told me to stay in the cage he was going to call the cops.

This one cop shows up. The beat cop. He had his night stick out. But he walked through the crowd. They all got quiet and parted open for him to get to me at the cage.

As he asked me if I was ok. And I said I was. They all left the building Quietly. Almost like sneaking out.

My point is this one cop was enough to clear the building. No one wanted to confront him.

Probably aftraid their mothers or parents would beat the crap out of them.

Things have changed.

exactly right. and I am glad you have a personal example to show the huge difference of back then and now.

some people choose to be oblivious to the fact that it isnt a race issue, it is a respect issue. they keep playing the race card because they have some agenda against "the man".

bottom line is todays young people have a total lack of respect for authority.

So the cop did not come barrel rolling into the store and draw his weapon?

See I think its a two way street, kids have less respect for police and police have less respect for the people they protect and serve.

My now 22 year old daughter came home from school one day with a D in gym when she was in 7th grade. I asker her how can you fail PE? She said that lady is not going to tell me what to do. I asked her what lady and what was she telling you to do. She said dress out for PE.I told her that lady was her mother and dad when she walked though those school doors. We had no more problems. Now, having said that, I know the next question is going to be what would I have said if the teacher had handcuffed her and threw her to the ground? Apples and oranges. Stuff like that never crossed our minds. Thank goodness we never have had an instance were she was confronted by the cops. Some might say she has lived a bored life. On another note, when I was in high school my mom told me if I ever got caught doing anything illegal , I was going to stay in jail, and I believed her.

You know what man, I wasn't even addressing you. While I realize this is a public forum, I don't recall my response being rude. You choose to take two points of interest out of a lengthy explanation of my answers to a specific question into an opportunity to demean me and my belief? You're advocating for violence against a teenager because you think she was being disrespectful and the first thing you say to me is rude and disrespectful?
Maybe you should hold yourself to the same standards as you're holding the teens in the video to?

We don't live in a police state. Police are not allowed to use force without cause. It's not legal to do that. Mouthing off, not immediately complying with an illegal directive is not against the law. The cop said "I told you to get your fucking asses on the ground". Much like you chose to be rude and arrogant towards me, you both initiated a rise in tensions. Creating a scenario exchanging the officer for a private citizen is not unreasonable at all. Especially when you consider that the law applies to all citizens in all professions in all scenarios.

You don't have to like the fact that the girl is within her rights to stand on any public sidewalk, including HOA sidewalks, and protest the actions of anything they want, but you have to respect it. You choose to believe a couple reports that kids were being disrespectful vandals, that overran a private pool, good for you. Just show me where you see that in the video?
Tell me where you specifically see a crime being committed by any of the teens, more specifically, the girl, on the video?
Tell me who you see being the most unreasonable and excited human in the video?
Were the officers there to investigate a crime or keep the public peace?
Were the police there to break up the party or investigate a reported fight between two women?
Was he establishing a crime scene? Did he arrest any of the teens for any crimes?

So tell me, please, what exactly it is that this girl did that was so egregious that warranted an officer to initiate deadly force against her?
Try doing it without being rude though.
I look forward to hearing your answers.

Hope this helps,
FDC

This whole thing has gotten out of hand.....Why do you think it's so hard for someone to step up and say what is acceptable/lawful behavior in situations like this and what is not.....I realize they (state/local) are worried of law suits but the law is law am I right?.....From a State/Local stand point this should be cut and dry......Seems to me this officer acted on this situation as he was trained, if not someone needs to step forward and say this is where the error was....

Okay, if he was acting as he was trained, why were the other officers not echoing his behavior? Why was the other officer that spoke to the person recording the event calm and collected while in the background Casebolt is going all royal rumble?

Oh you saw this all happen huh? All in the video? Funny there was not a single attest for under age drinking or pot smoking?
Starting to think you're actually dumber than you portray yourself here. Let us know how happy hour was. Make sure you drive drunk on this fine Friday.

Jesus, settle down.....I was asking why hasn't someone higher up stepped to the plate and ironed this shit out, it's been 7 days.....this cop has 7 mins to make a decision, why can't the people that pull the trigger call it one way or another.......everything doesn't need to be racist and every question doesn't need to be a fight, relax.....:0008

Just follow a simple order and none of this would have happened. It's not that hard.

It's not about black or white, young or old. It's a trend in our society. Many just go out of their way to challenge authority.

The officer obviously should have used a different approach, but I cannot side with the girl in this case.

Now what about the people that want to press charges against the officer? What the fuck do you want? You want money? You want the guy to be arrested? You want him to do some time to teach him a lesson? Dude has already quit his job and has his family in hiding. What exactly do these people want, but more importantly, WHY?

Exactly, everyone wants a pound of flesh.....If anyone had the balls to step up and tell everyone these are how the laws work, and this is what is expected when an Officer speaks or this is your right when approached things may calm down....how tough is this to figure out....

I didn't hope for you to drink and drive, I was just speculating. It's just like when you said there was underage drinking and pot smoking. So I guess you got what you gave.
Bottoms up!
