And let me tell you it was not and never is easy no
matter how bad the employee is. I'm getting
chitfaced tonight because I know I did the right
thing but I also know he has a son who will be a
senior in high school. I'm pretty sure most of you
in a management position can relate. Just venting
I guess. I hate doing this chit but unfortunately
it's part of the job.

never easy...but 99% of folks that are shown the door paved their own way..

good management always gets rid of dead weight...

very smart man w/over 40 years in the beverage business once gave me these words in his office when I had a tuff time letting an employee go..

"If you can't fire them you are not the man I want hiring them."

Every sunrise brings a better day..

can't let it bother you. fcuk 'em, their fault not yours and prob not a surprise to them either.

Every word you said is 100% true, but it doesn't
ease the pain. I will be just fine next week. I've
done this many times, just brought it up because
it really sucks the first 48 hours. Thanks for the
thoughts guys

I have to do about once every two weeks and it definitley sucks. I hate it because 90% of the time mine is single moms. They do all the wrong in the world but I still feel bad for them, mainly because of their kiddos. It something after 8 years that I still haven't gotten use to.

Above the Clouds....
I've done it and the hardest day is the day you have to do it. It bothers me too but you know what they never seem to care. Seems like a way of life for some.

unfortunately it's something that has to be done, and also something that does not get easier the longer you wait to do it.

saint, you hit the nail on the head, and I've
learned that. I did do this fairly quickly. But it is
still very difficult for me to do. If I went to a
movie to see "Love Story" , early 70's, I'd still
cry. I can be hard nosed as chit, but I have a
soft heart. Just sucks today, I'll be fine 8/9.

Never easy axing someone...........

Just alittle fwiw, Fridays & right before a holiday are the worst time to fire a person (though picking the day isn't always an option).

Fridays gives the person the weekend to drown their sorrows and tends to make the situation worst. During the week allows the person a chance to start looking for work and less chance of problems. Holidays speak for themself. But then again the guy was a **** off so "SEE YA!"
