This countries government has lost it's mind. This is pure unadulterated bullshit.

WTF....the direction this country is headed is very very scary.

I think this is the final straw & will confirm my decision to move to Europe.....for good.....the hell w/ my US citizenship.

It all goes in cycles. We'll all be doing crack and dry humping trees naked in our public parks soon enough.

What are the reprecussions for this site if it gets signed. It would be a total kick in the ass if sponsors pulled because no one here being able to fund a book.

Thank you big brother for sticking your nose in my business once again. I am going along in life not bothering anyone and you insist on trying to tell me whats best for me.:gf: :gf: :gf:

there will be ways to fund your sportsbook accounts and the sportsbooks will still be in business and wanting to advertise for more business. as far i can see, there is no law in the bill stopping websites from advertising sportsbooks or players making bets at sportsbooks. seems like the burden is on the backs of the banks to stop transactions to gambling sites (bookies and casinos and poker rooms). i'm not sure how they are going to be able to do that. and, i guess we'll have to wait and see if neteller stops taking U.S. business but i don't see a law in there stopping them either. i'm definitely not an expert on "The Law" but this isn't as bad as it could have been.

just my opinion.

again, we will be able to fund our sportsbook accounts PLUS i have 35 paying advertisers. if i lost all but 10 i'd still be happy and it would be business as usual at madjacksports.com :)

let's see what happens but i am betting it's not as bad as some might think it is.

thanks

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
they stopped us from funding with credit cards and then we found a way around that.

they stopped us from using paypal, and we found a way around that.

with all the gambling money in US begging to be send out, it's a darn good bet they will find a way around however the provisions of this bill become enforced.

last time I funded an offshore account using Western Union, it was just send to some dude's name in Jamaica. Try to prohibit us from wiring money down south to some Juan Gonzalez! :142smilie

Internet Gambling World in Chaos After Port Security Bill Passes

September 30, 2006 - The Port Security Bill, which will increase security along all United States ports, overwhelmingly passed both the House and Senate in the midnite hours of Friday night early Saturday morning.

Attached to the quality security bill is a a completely unrelated measure that directly affects internet gambling.

So what exactly does this bill do to the state of internet gambling?

The quick and honest answer is... we have no idea.

Differing analysis can be found on whatever site you get your news from.

As far as the Casino Gambling Web is concerned, this is how the newly passed bill is to be interpreted...

In its most literal form the bill makes it illegal for banks to allow online payments to be made to online gambling operations. What is interesting about the bill is that it does not include language that upgrades the 1961 Wire Act to include online gambling, which the House passed bill did include when it passed in July of this year.

This means that the state of online gambling is exactly the way it was before for players - still in a grey area. It is no more illegal now than it was before the bill passed.

What will happen now all depends on what the banks do as a result of the bill passing. Will they stop payments to Neteller, a known third party gambling banking company?

The banks already stop payments to online gambling operations directly.

Will the banks comply with the new laws?

Will the banks even be able to comply with the new laws?

Don't the banks already stop payment to gambling operations?

We will keep you up to date with what is happening, but for now, everything you read is just speculation and nothing should be read as fact.

Until more is known, keep expressing your freedoms in the United States.

not sure how all this works, but if something is compeletly unrelated to the bill can they pass part of the bill, or it is a all or nothing? Seems kinda wierd that you can throw anything in a bill even if it is completely unrelated.

Its scares the shit out of me...piggyback any legislation you want on another important piece of legislation and it gets signed by the President.

Frist is a crook and a cat killer.

Republicans fuked up real bad this time. The demographics of online poker players and sportsbook bettors cover all political ideologies. In other words, they pissed off everybody. Turnout will kill them in November. People who are Republicans and gamble online probably won't switch to Democrats. They will just stay home. While people who are Democrats and Independents and gamble online will vote for Democrats. Then the same thing will happen on the Iraq War. How many Republican voters are energized to rubber stamp that? How many Democrats are angry and want to get the bums out?

I am not a psychic. I may be 100% wrong, but my opinion is Democrats massacre Reublicans in November. There is going to be blood on the ballots in 40 some days and it's going to bleed GOP red.

As far as this law is concerned, I want to see what happens starting with what NETeller does or doesn't do. NETeller has to be taken out for this thing to be effective but even if it is that does not kill the industry. Pressure is definitely on the government to pull this off. On paper, I don't see this law being enforceable.

ya thats completely wrong and very scary because you can pretty much add anything as long as the bill is something that will pretty much get passed no matter what.

you must not know how the us goverment works. it is standard practice to curry favors by sticking in unrelated bills into legislation. it's how they vote their 10 percent pay raises every year. stick it on a bill at midnight and there you go.

as for democrats winning in november, even if they do I doubt they'll help. eventually I feel like they'll legalize in the us for us based company's only so they can collect tax revenue, but unfortunantly due to this bill's passing that might be decades away.

I won't vote democrat personally over this, but I'm not voting republican, they need to **** off and stop legislating morality and personal behavior.

and the horse racing industy can also **** off, their 'sport' is dying because people relaize you can't make money betting it because of the pari mutual wagering system, and keeping it legal online won't help.

That is not why I want Democrats to win. They really don't care one way or the other about this. They have their own pet issues and constituents. I just want revenge on Republicans. They are responsible. The good news is it is finally end game time. They got the law they wanted. If it is unenforceable, the game is over. At that point, doesn't even matter what their next move is but I suspect this is when online gambling will be attacked in a different way: by legalizing and regulating/taxing it to death.

EXACTLY!

how under-handed can you be to get what you want? and to get what you want for YOUR OWN GREEDY REASONS!!!!!

CRAZY!!!!

To beat assholes like this you need to put everyones minds together and think of other options. I just wish people would wake up to what is really going on in our country but i doubt it. Most are to worried about Bill Clintons brand of cigars.

With that being said I'm in agreement if left as is don't see where much more harm thans been done will be in play.Hoping they think they've done something and let the issue rest.

in addition there are a few other countries crying same tune as us right now--

``The two biggest European markets, Germany and France, have moved from a passive attitude on online gaming to a hostile, active attitude,'' said Michael Schatzschneider, a Frankfurt- based analyst at Commerzbank AG.
