Guess I missed that part of the bible. Mind pointing out the scripture to me that supports your opinion.

Just a start...

We are stewards of possessions that belong to God.

1 Peter 4:10,11 - We are stewards of God's manifold blessings and should use these blessings to glorify God "in all things." A steward is a servant who has been entrusted to use his master's property to achieve the master's purposes. The master will judge the steward for how well he used the property. [Luke 12:42-46; 2 Chron. 28:1; 1 Cor. 4:1,2]

Psalm 24:1,2; 50:10-12 - Material property is part of our stewardship in that God ultimately owns all physical things but has entrusted them to us.

1 Timothy 6:9,10,17-19 - Instead of being greedy and loving physical things, we should use them to accomplish God's purposes. This includes providing for the needs of ourselves and our families, giving to the church, preaching the gospel, and helping the needy. Our material possessions are not ours to use as we please. We must use them to do God's will and then give account to Him for our use of them.

[Haggai 2:8; 1 Chron. 29:11-14; Acts 4:32-35; 1 John 2:15-17; Deut. 10:14]

The gambler is an unfaithful steward.

Luke 16:1,2 - Instead of using the Master's possessions for the intended purpose, the unfaithful steward wastes them or risks losing them for selfish purposes. This is exactly what the gambler does. [Matthew 25:14-30]

I assume that those who purchase big screens, expensive cars, or even go out and take in a movie are being poor stewards as well. Like I said this is your interpretation and for anyone that wanted to they could take your logic and apply it to anything they felt was not for the purpose of serving god. Now I will agree with you that if allowed to take control of you and be put in front of god then there is a problem, but I still havent seen anything that refers specifically to gambling.

You are rationalizing. Yes - you are right about many of those other things as well - greed of all sorts is a sin. Our sinful society values money to the point that we can't see the obvious anymore. God is not pleased.

I wouldnt disagree with that at all, I just wouldnt seperate gambling from anything else that americans become gluttonous about.

I do believe you when you say that there are people that make a living doing this, but I am still blown away, though. You always hear of how the house always wins, which leads you to believe most people probably lose. But it seems like most people are winners on this site (you, FirstnGoal, Cie Grant, Thunder, Scott-Atlanta, Teemo, Senor Capper, Save It, RAYMOND, etc., etc., etc.). It blows my mind to think that THEORETICALLY, if EVERY gambler in the world were aware of this site, followed you guys plays to the tee and stopped playing their own picks, then all casino and online sportsbooks would be demolished within one season. Of all the people that view this site and claim to be in the hole, it surprises me that they would even consider playing their own picks when there are so many successful cappers here to follow....

Wow if the poor guy followed some of the people you listed he would be in a lot worse shape than he is now. He would probably be on suicide watch like that other guy was that time. Please do your homework before you say certain people win every year when it is completely false. I have tracked a few people for fading for the last 7 or 8 years and it has worked out very well.

:mj07: Yeah there are a couple guys on that list that are worse than me, and thats bad. I also think those that make money do it with a sport or two and not all of them. I for instanse do well in bases each year, but cant pick my nose in baskets or foots. I have just about become disciplined enough to just stick to what I am good at and leave everything else alone.

This has to be one of madjacks all-time most fucked up threads. Poor guy cries out for help, and the thread goes from good advice on quitting, to bad advice on wagering less, or putting the house on this or that, then debates on God , drunk posts, and finally porn.... Are we all a little disfunctional?

NAH ...JUST GOOD 'OL MADJACKERS ...WHAT'S THIS FORUM ABOUT ANYWAY???

Sorry, you're right. I've been looking at this site for maybe 3 seasons and it seemed certain posters have been consistently successful, but since you've been here longer and say that some of those have had losing seasons, then I will take your word for it. I guess this thread is going way off topic....

To the OP: I hope for you and your families' sake you are successful in quitting gambling for good. If you can't do it for yourself, then do it for your family!!!! There are some religious references in this thread so maybe this is a sign for you to change your life. Pray to GOD that He will give you the strength to quit gambling (serious).

JUST A FINAL COMMENT

JUST A FINAL COMMENT

PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS ARE A SCIENCE AND GAMBLING (THE PRACTICAL PART OF PROBABILITY AND STATS) IS A BRANCH OF THIS SCIENCE ... IF YOU ARE INTO THIS AREA OF EXPERTISE YOU ARE A SCIENTIST.... NO ONE SHOULD CALL YOU A SINNER OR A JUNKIE OR A LOSER OR WTF THEY CAN THINK OF ....YOU ARE A EXPERIMENTER OF PROBABILITY AND A STATISTICAL ANALIST ...WHEN THIS BECOMES DEFORMED IT'S WHEN YOU MUST CHANGE OR QUIT

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

yeah, this MIGHT be true for about 1 in every 25,000 gamblers. I reached that number through statistical science.
